How the heck do I get to the ECM??? How does the bottom panel and front of dash come out??? I had code 42 and replaced the ignition module in the distributor, still had code 42. I double checked everything and when I started the car it runs erratically and dash just goes crazy. I am thinking a possible loose connection at the ECM, but can not figure out the engineering to get to it to re seat connections while standing on my head. THANKS. Vette is now down and any quick replies will be appreciated.

No One Know How

Come on guys give me a clue or is it that no one else knows how to dig in to the ECM. I have hatchet handy just in case. I found the problem !! Forgot to tighten the screw holding the condensor in to distributor. Would still like this info as I may have to get to ECM some tine in the future.

Remove the black hush panel that sits over the passengers feet, there should only be 2-3 screws holding it up, take those out and pull it down.

Get yourself arranged so that your head is directly underneath the breadbox and look straight up, after tugging down the wiring harness, the ECM is held in place by two bolts and its perpendicular to the floor. I forget exactly the size, i want to say 11mm. Youll need one or two extensions.

Once the bolts are out, grab it and GENTLY tug it down until it drops out. There are then 2 small screws on one panel, the Chip is inside.

Note its orientation, it has to go back in the same way.
