I recently had to replace the drivers side window switch with a new one. I realized that the switch was the wrong one becuase it didn't have the memory option on it. I bought the right switch, disconnecting the battery once again and installed it. The switch works fine. My keyless entry FOB has to keep being re-set using the lock/unlock method. I even did the DIC re-training method. The FOB works for a little while and then won't work. I've replaced the battery, it does the same thing. No DIC messages are displayed. - Ron

HI there,
I would suggest that your receiver is losing the rolling code sequence, therefore, it stops working.
As long as the transmitter is working correctly, the receiver is probably the source of the problem.

Thanks for the info. I suspected the same. Though I'm not a mechanic I bought the Chevrolet mechanics manual to determine if it was something simple. I nearly got into tearing out the back trim piece to get to the receiver, then I thought...na...I'll just take it to the dealer and let them figure it out. My wife and I enjoyed a sunny sunday evening drive instead me leaving it in pieces and frusterated. Since I don't have the diagnostic tools and no codes are being generated I figured leave it alone and take it in on tuesday. I just hope it isn't too expensive. Two other people on another corvette site are having the same problem so I know I'm not alone. It sounds like disconnecting the battery is something we have in common when this begins to happen. It could be a power spike that hits a weak receiver and does it in. - Ron

Well, I got it back last tuesday from Seaview Chevrolet in Lynnwood Washington thanks to Chuck, Scott and John it now is working. I had outstanding service there. The techs found that the Remote Keyless Entry Key FOB and the Body Control Module (BCM) were both at fault. The BCM kept loosing the RPO codes that indicated it should respond to the FOB. It was very frusterating considering that the BCM didn't produce any special Driver Information Codes (DIC) indicating the BCM was going out. The FOB was generating erronious codes to the BCM. It's bad enough when one module goes out, but when 2 go out at the same time, it's really time to tear your hair out. The service tech also looked up the service history and found that the problem was identified prior to the warranty expiring. I'm not the original owner, but GM split the cost of the repair with me anyway. I also got the relay in the drivers door fixed as well. I hope this helps anybody else with the same problem.

My uncle had similar problems with my 97 before he gave it to me. He eneded up have the receiver replaced under warranty.
