Has anyone done this? I just ordered a replacement from ecklers and cant see the obvious way to get the old one off.

Do I have to take down the entire plastic retainer running along the top umnderside of the windshield? Also, where is the fuse located for the mirror vanity lights in the sunvisor. Neither side will light up and I thought I would start there.

Thanks for any info !

No you shouldn't have to remove the bottom plastic if my memory is correct. There is a retaining washer that you have to remove. I believe mine came with somewhat of decent instructions. As to where the fuse is I am not sure on that one. If you have trouble let me know, and I will look at mine and see if i can walk you through it. I find it hard to think about it sitting in front of the computer.

Good luck

I'm in the process of doing this myself. My replacement came from a wrecked '94. I own a '93, so the process is the same. First, in my '93, the fuses for vanity mirror lights are listed in position #31 (5amps)--should be listed on your fuse box cover and in your owner's manual. The Maxi-fuse (underhood) is position 1(20amps).

*(Take top outta the coupe/put droptop down on 'vert.)*

Take the first coupla screws outta the trim directly under visor mirror, unscrew the face plate on top. You'll probably need a torx bit. Unscrew the "top hat" shaped nut, then remove the retainer (a flat, silver thingy with slits in it) and the spring. Reach in and unplug the teeny-tiny pigtail switch for the mirror (should be a blue or white tab you'll need to gently pull away from the switch to unplug entire unit). Now you should now be able to remove the old mirror from below--just pull it out.

[F.Y.I.-If you don't have an owner's manual call the publisher: Helm's @ 1-800-782-4356 (credit card order only) and they'll be haaaapppy to sell you a brand new one!!! Order a Service Manual while you're at it. Or write to:
