Help with turn signals/squeaky steering

Regarding my '66 coupe, I just put new guts in my steering column as part of the instrument cluster rebuild project. I replaced both the switch & harness and the cam during the process. 've got a squeak in there when I turn the wheel that sound like plastic. What kind of lube should I use and where does it go? Also, the right turn signal doesn't cancel itself but the left one does. Any advice on how I can rectify that situation? Other than those two annoyances everything went fine. Got the oil changed, replaed the leaky master cylinder, changed the anti freeze and replaced the thermostat. I'm rarin' to go but not with that high pitched squeek! I replaced both the switch & harness and the cam during the process/

Is the column out of the car? If so, pull the wheel and if the sqeek is constant it sounds like the bearing is not lubed, or not seated corectly and rotating in it's plastic seat, for the bearing lube use a light grease and grease the cam. If the cam does not cancel in both directions the cam and wheel must be centered.

By centered if you don't have the hub indexed properly or if it has been removed before you may have to pull the hub. Be careful if you have to do this as the hub threads will pull out easily. To remove just get you a puller then apply pressure then whack the end of the puller one or two good times.. Then apply more pressure and repeat... That is the only way I know how to correct a turn signal cancel problem... Dave....
