My '99 coupe with 35,000 miles just developed a new feature: On slow acceleration from dead stop, at about 1,500 rpm it hick-ups. That is, I feel it hesitate or pause at about 1,500 rpm and then it continues to accelerate without a problem.

Once it get moving there is no other problem. It has done this for the last 70 miles of city driving.

I have driven it only 1,200 miles in the last 12 months and wonder if it may be something gummed up from too much sitting.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

HI there,
It is possible that the injectors may not be atomizing the fuel correctly.
I would suggest running a 20oz bottle of Techron through your cars full fuel tank and let us know how you make out.

Thank you

Thanks C4C5. I will find some Techron and let you know. Also, I'm going to do much more of what the C5 was made for: Driving.

UPDATE: After driving 150 miles over two weeks it feels as though the problem is 90% corrected. There is still a pause at about 1200 rpm which I hope is eventually also cleaned out.

I filled up with the new Shell V-Power gas since that is supposed to be the first of the new generation "clean your injectors while you drive" gasolines that all the major oil companies will soon offer.

UPDATE 2:

After 300 miles, one can, and running only Shell V-Power, the problem is gone. Thanks C4C5.

Thanks for the advice.

Peter
