Congtatulations, John!! I learned so much just reading your replies to other enthusiasts that it made my resto easier and more fun. Art

All,

Another special, special circumstance. I just became aware of the postings relative to JohnZ and his selection to the Corvette Hall of Fame.

As I said in my CRPL email that is posted in this thread, I gathered up 35,000 emails that John has written responding to resto questions on the various web Corvette Forums.

This type of activity was/is key. Dave Burroughs (CEO/founder of Bloomington Gold) said in his testimonial that John lived it (21 years I believe with GM/Camaro/Corvette) and is far better than any book. Noland Adams (Hall of Fame member) said in his testimonial that John brings great credit on the hobby (I would say passion). Dave McLellan (former Chief Engineer for Corvette, HOF member) said that he provided his testimonial because John and he were on the same path to build far superior Corvettes. Alex C Mair (former GM v.p. who ran engineering - my co-nominator) said in his testimonial that GM would been much further ahead if GM had adopted John's initiatives faster. How profetic at the moment. Zora and John worked for Alex.

So, very, very much appreciate all of your help/wishes for John and ever so rewarding to read the email threads that relate.

P.S. Hopefully, my profile picture will reflect my 64 in its bare bones state. No rugs, interior stuff, etc. John helped me restore the front end, rear end, engine compartment, and interior. Very rewarding on a personal level.

John Hinckley election to the Corvette Hall of Fame

Mac,

Very much appreciate your help relative to JohnZ and his successful selection to the Corvette Hall of Fame.

I added a post to the email thread - a very, very special opportunity. Please review.

Congratulations John! Very well deserved. :beer
See you at the HOF award banquet.

All:
There are videos available of John Hinckley as we worked through his nomination that are posted on YouTube and accessed via the Michigan NCRS chapter web site. Steve Rhode created the videos and is a member of the Michigan NCRS chapter.
Two in particular:
Michigan Chapter recognizes John Hinckley - their testimonial presentation to John as a surprise.

Body drop video which John narrates. The video is of a 67 owned and restored by Jerry Antczak. Jerry says that he asked 600 plus questions of John during the restoration.

In the way of additional background, the Michigan Chapter event was a surprise that I engineered with Howard Hoover (Michigan chapter president).
Alex C. Mair is my co-nominator for John's nomination/selection to the Hall of Fame. Alex is 87 now and ran GM/Chevy/Corvette engineering. Both John and Zora worked for Alex. Alex was told by the then Chairman of GM to fire Zora and worked with Ed Cole (then GM pres, HoF member) to get around the directive. Alex gave me three patents that John initiated while working for Alex. As an example, Net Build is a technique that was patented that was intiated by John and greatly improved quality. Before Net Build, the cars were subject to the assembly person and how good they felt that day. Net Build positions the parts exactly for the operator.
Howard made the presentation of the testimonial, Alex spoke and relates the relationship between he and John. I added my comments on the 3 year process to get John selected. I mentioned the 35,000 emails John has written as an example answering restoration questions on the various restoration questions.
I hope I reflected your views as well in the video. Enjoy the videos and appreciate your sentiments relative to John and his selection to the Hall of Fame.

John, as someone else had already mentioned, I don't know you and I have never met you but what I do know is that you are one of the most well respected and knowledgeable people on this forum. And it didn't take me long to realize this! You know, you are somewhat famous. In any case, congratulations and I hope someday we get to meet. That would be pretty cool...It's an honor in itself to know you...

We'll unstick this thread now that most everyone has had a chance to learn the good news about JohnZ's selection to the Corvette Hall of Fame.

Hopefully, we'll have some photos of the induction ceremonies later this year.

Thanks! Y'all come on down to the Museum on Labor Day Weekend - it'll be a big party; it's the 15th anniversary of the Museum, the grand opening of the new expansion, and the Hall of Fame Induction ceremony and dinner. They're expecting 12,000 - 15,000 Corvettes in town that weekend. :)

Maybe some of The Canadian boys could Plan a trip down like a few years ago. I'm sure Bob has solved the "Drop the Tranny Shifter Arm in the dirt Problem" and Mac could fire up the Yellow Thang of his also and get a hold of Doug who could pilot the Corvette support Vehical.

This is going to be a Big Party....:beer
