I know there have been several discussions on the issue of hot foot wells of a C3. Does installing shut off valves to the heater hoses under the hood really help this issue. I have installed insulation everywhere and even wrapped the exhaust in that area, still have toasted feet.
 
I have a pair of needle nose vice grips, I use to stop the flow of hot coolant into the heater core....try tha

Yes, it definitely helps. I have installed Dynamat and the shutoff valve. Big difference.

Put it in on the input side to the heater core. That is the top of the intake manifold heater hose to the heater core.
