Question: How are the roads in your area?

Chrisr, now that I noticed your Cinnaminnson address, I understand. The section that remained (as original), concrete at least until about 1980, was between Bordentown and New Bruswick.

There is still much of the original concrete under that black top.

My first job out of high school was with the "State Highway Department" in the 60's before they called them "DOT's". I'm that old ...

:ugh

NJ used to rank right behind California in design and construction in the 40's and 50's .... we've slid downhill, but not as bad as PA.

I'm probably as old as you, ( I remember buying gas for $0.39.9 ) and yes, New Jersey roads were the best on the East Coast) save for RT. 73. I had a 59 corvette roaster and it rode hard going down to Atco dragstrip. you felt every concrete slab ! I still think New Jersey roads are better than PA, but the roads were better before the NJ govenment did away with the state run roads department. now that they've outsourced it to private companies it's a struggle just get a drivers license let alone fix the roads.
