Chevy's answer to the Hemi="427"

The answer is pure logic and the marketing is there.

If Dodge and Chrysler can move anything that has the word "Hemi" on it, isn't it logical that all Chevy has to do is instead of a little 7 liter emblem on the new Z-06 they should put the mother of all emblems on it that would make all other cars shiver!

"427"

That little emblem would sell every last one of them and some.

Remember the pen is mightier then the sword.

Alan

p.s. And it doesn't hurt to have an exhaust that rumbles and maybe some sidepipes and wheels with spinners.

I think l'm losing it thinking about the "427"

That would sell vettes for sure. I think I have seen a vette before with the 427 badge on the hood. It was probably a ligenfelter I think. I did read however that the actual displacement of the LS-7 is around 427.8, which is about 1 cubic inch larger then the old rat motor. :D

Sure would be nice to have one.

Baffling?????????????

What l don't really understand is that 39 people viewed this thread and only two people chimmed in.

This could be a major marketing coup for Chevy and maybe they are right that people will turn a deaf ear to it.

Ken

Please move this thread to the proper forum!

Thanks

Alan

I can't wait to see the 427.8's hit the road!:L

But depending on price and production, I hope I get to see one. I wouldn't mind owning one but there's the problem of coming up that a huge sum of money. :L

could always sell all your stuff, like I would have to do :(

Forget the .8!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Edmond

I knew l could count on you to be lurking around. And by the way, what happened to Rain? I guess he must be on tour with his new stealth blk C5.

Who cares if it's more the problem is always when they give you less.

Look at the C4 LT4 engine that is rated at 330hp, we know it can be much more and nobody is complaining!

The orig 427 engine was also under rated as far as hp.

Boy would l love to see the 427 on the side of a new Z-06.

I think that the hard core members had too much New Years eve to think about this. Or that l have too much time on my hands to think about this.

Alan

That would be easy!

But my wife would lock me in the garage with the vette and my dog. I guess l could do it for a couple of days before l came to my sense's.

I would really have to say that this would be the last car that l was going to buy while l was still on this earth. But you and l know she would never buy it.

The last time l did something like that is when l bought a boat and then stepped out for a bigger boat. That l will never live down!

Agree completely on the first point......:) I think I left my head with my drink in the hot tub about 2 A.M. on New Years Eve regarding the second point:Silly......and to comment on the last point would mean I have too much time on my hands to think about this............:beer

I like your reasoning!

It makes a lot of sense to me.

Look at the Mustang, it's flying out of the dealerships as are all the Hemi's that Dodge/Chrysler can produce.

And all l'm asking for is a little 427emblem on the side of the Z-06.

Alan

small suggestion for the new emblem:

427 smallblock

It's got the same cubic inches as the, as one person put it, "old rat motor", but not nearly the beef. We'll see how long it holds up. It's a whole lot lighter but certainly not "Detroit Iron". ( except for the liners )

Pure Hype!!!!!!!!!!!

Who really cares as long as the 427 emblem is afixed to it. Do you really think that the hemi engine in the Chryslers are the same as the hemi's of the mid 1950's??

Nobody cares, it's all an illusion, like driving a SUV!

I think I'll get rid of my 83' Z28 later this year. I only paid $500 for it, spent about $80 on a few parts. I could sell it and help finance another acoustic guitar for myself. :D

The more I look at it:

"427"

The more I like it Alan.

Oh Oh. Got my fonts a little reversed there.....wanted the "427" Big and the last line small. Anyway, I like the 427:

"427":Steer

I agree! I've heard that the new Chrysler "Hemis" aren't aren't actually hemis since they have "pentroof" combustian chambers rather than hemispherical ones, but since they slapped the name on it, people buy it! Does that mean that since my '63 Jeep pickup has an overhead cam "Hemi" engine it (stock from the factory) I could slap "hemi" stickers on it and then get more money when I sell it!!! ;)

I'd run it against any vette big-block this side of an L-88 or ZL1.
