I imagine that an '84 would probably get different MPG than a '96, but let's hear those numbers!!

best trip ever top up my 94 got 28.8 (down hill tail wind)
normal 22.8 top less, top up- about a couple of miles better

There should be a thread from last year with about 40 responses...

Anyway, '86 4+3 with 140k miles. Low of 12 on a tank (track day) and high of ~26, almost all highway through mountains but averaging 50 mph (last year's 50th caravan). With the new engine, all bets are off. I'll be happy to do 20 highway. On 93 octane instead of 87.

Well Rich, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I'm getting just under 22mpg in normal city, country commuting, half town, half 55 - 80, and I jump it hard when I feel like it. Usually at least once every time I'm in it.

I am getting about 20 mpg around town wtth the top down in my 1990 6-speed. I have not had her out on the road for a long trip, but will let you know as I am driving her 4th of July weekend for a short road trip to visit relatives.

If I keep it REAL easy on the highway I'll get 28 and If Im slightly downhill with the right wind I actually got 32.

Well I did Abbotsford BC (Vancouver area) to Calgary on 1 1/2 tank. (12 hour drive)

Hey! Speaking of which, how is the '90 doing? Quite a nice Vette. You are getting a good collection going. ;) If only I could have as many Vettes as you (:D).

Good luck with the '90 (as well as the '75). She is quite a ride. :)

For having an old car I am very happy with the mileage. Top down highway 24, with the top up a maybe a few more. Around town which is rural, urban mix my last tank was 20.2. This was figured using the old fashion way, not the average miles per gallon guage on the cluster.

When i last filled up it averaged out to 18.1, which was almost all city driving, on the open road i get about 22 or 23.

Normal driving around 20. But, when I drove from California to Maryland I averaged 31. I did not believe it until I added up my receipts. I was driving VERY conservatively. The first week I bought the car I probably got aroung 8.

First, let me point out that my computer is optimistic and shows 1.5 to 2 mpg better than it actually is!?!?!?!

I've done a couple of gas mileage rallys and managed 33-36 mpg on those - lousy way to drive by the way. This was that 'actual' calculated mpg.

Before the LT4+ work, I was routinely seeing 26.5+ actual (28+ on the computer) on the highway and 18 actual (19 on the computer) in town. It's less than that now!

Coming back home from the 50th Anniversary celebration in my 92, we were traveling on I-40 somewhere in Oklahome and I got 31.4 on one stretch where I set the cruise at 80MPH! That appeared on the average MPG readout, but I verified that when we stopped for a break after about 130 miles, re-filled the tank and checked it mathematically. That way showed 31.2!! OVerall for the 6200 miles (which included doing some 3-digit speeds in each of the 16 states we passed thru) with city and freeway driving, my average fuel mileage was 24.6.

Depends greatly on my driving style. If I keep my foot out of it .... rarely .... I get around 28.5 - 30 Hwy and 17 - 20 City. If I romp stop light to stop light I get considerably worse 8 - 13 City. My normal drive one way to work is 57 miles if I set the cruise or just take it easy 75 - 80 MPH I get nearly 30 MPG. the guys at work think "NO WAY" but using the odometer (which is dead on) and the gallons it normally comes in right around 29. Much better than my Hooptie Dodge PU which is a V6. Plus the Vette looks better.

Wave On :w

My '93 used to get over 30 on the highway regularly, as high as 32.5. My LT4 gets a bit under 30 though, usually 28, but it has been as low as 25 on the highway when I have had a heavy foot:)

Best: 29mpg on a long road trip driving like Miss Daisey, NO FUN

Average: about 22mpg

Worst (but by far the most fun): about 15mpg :D

1990 L98 coupe w/automatic

Well, with the '84 vette in the city with the air on - 18 mpg; don't have a clue on the highway, for 170,000 miles; thats pretty darn good!
