I have a 97 with an automatic, I want to change the shifter boot, can any one give me some good advice or directions on doing so? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The shift knob is the hardest to remove, but it is reletively easy once you've removed that. Remove the shift pattern face plate, the knob is keyed to secure it. Remove the key using a small pair of vise grips. You may need to pry the key upward to get enough out to grab with the vise grips. Remove the knob. Grab the shift boot, pulling the boot material inward towards the center of the shift handle and you will see the plastic ring and tabs that secures it to the console. Remove it and the rest is just in reverse order.

Thanks guys, the installation went real easily. I appreciate your help!:beer
