The bad news: She was fleeing the scene from hitting my Vette! :mad
Here's the story. My lady and I are packing up our Jeep to drive down to see my family 2hrs south of Tampa. I am Upstairs in the Apt and My lady is outside packing up the Jeep. well I have the patio door open and I hear a car alarm going off so I peek out and don't see anything. Then I hear Shane... Shane... Some girl just backed into your car and took off! So I run down stairs and grab the keys from my lady Jump in the jeep and haul butt through the parking lot. I catch up to her and she's driving like 2 miles an hour. So I cut in front of her and tell her she just hit my car back there. She says," I know, I'm sorry. I did. What?" She's trashed. High or on something at 10:30 in the morning! So I tell her she needs to go back and look at my car. So she backs up and goes about 20 feet and cuts the wheel and backs into another car. I yelled at her to pull forward into a parking spot and shut off the car! So then I pull my Jeep in back of her and box her in so she can't go anywhere. Long story short: I called the police, found the other owner of the second car she hit and she went to jail for leaving the scene of an accident.
Just Amazing. So I started my day with about $2000 worth of damage to my car.
The worst part? She hit my car so hard, the words MUSTANG are imprinted in my bumper!

She still looks messed up in her jail picture!

To quote Handsome Rob again....

"un - believeable"..

Sorry to hear about your "other lady" getting hurt again, dude... at least you got the NDB put in the slammer where she belongs (looks like a corn-fed inbreed, btw).

DUDE!!! WAY TO GO!! :upthumbs I'm only sorry that it was your vette she hit. :cry That is one of the greatest rewards in law enforcement is catching someone like that. I hope she has insurance and your car is fixed.

Nice work man!

Good thing you caught here so she couldn´t hit a person or something else.

At first I was just mad that she would take off after hitting my car. Then after confronting her I was relieved I caught her before she entered the main road and killed somebody or herself! She was definately on something.
The crazy thing is she didn't get a Dui or something similar. But the officer said he was limited in what he could do since we were on private property.
He was a pretty nice guy too. He even called her parents so they could pick up her car for her and see their lovely daughter.:L
When the oficer asked her why he was there today, she replied I have absolutely no idea!
So Score one for me, and score one for temple terrace police dept for keeping our streets safe!
Now I have to deal with Insurance :mad

For what it is worth, I know of a case where a driver was in a parked car in a parking lot (private property), sitting with the engine running. That person was prosecuted for DUI, even though the car was not moving, because he was operating the vehicle. I agreed with it anyway, as he had to have gotten the car there somehow.

Great Job!!

Sorry you had to suffer for it though. Hope it all works out good for you. You know... on a Vette you can't just touch up a bad spot, it a total new paint job. :mad

Good job Shane.. Sorry about the imprint.. Had to be a Stang eh ?

Makes me wonder, what in hells name an 18 yr old is doing high on something at 10am (in a car)? ;squint: Hung over from last night, still going ?? "Unreal" (quoting Rob too. ;) )

Tell me about. I just had my car vandalized this last november. Total of $4400 to repair/repaint the damaged areas. I chipped in an extra $1200 and had the whole car repainted. Now this happens. So the whole bumper will need to be done again as well as the quarter panel.

She did tell the officer she was having alot of "trauma" in her life, Whatever that means. I guess for an eighteen year old that means to pop a couple pills when you wake up in the morning?
kind of sad. And yes "unreal" too!

Yes, kinda sad, sorta, but that made me kinda smirk (in the sarcastic, ironical way).. The old "Oh, Sorry Officer, but it wasnt really my fault, i had such a traumatic life" excuse ? Just looking at the pic of her at arrest tells the story. I feel bad for you though. You did the right thing, stopping an idiot with a deadly weapon before she could do more damage (to herself, and to others). Again: Good job !! Sorry though that She made a mistake and you'll have to deal with a headache.
Hope the INS is going to go smooth for ya..

Glad you caught the person who hit your car! But oh man, that’s sad news about the GNATSUM being imprinted on your car! Hope it’s easily repaired.

That is SWEET!:D
Here in PA you can be charged with DUI (alcohol or drugs) on private property. (Not me, but I know people who have; in their driveway!)

I don't know, people cool down after a while, but I think I'd push for it. No excuse for that crap. Reading police blotters here teenagers get too many slaps on the wrist for marijuana possesion/use, etc. while driving and usually end up with $50 fines:mad

There have been people out in the country arrested for DUI while riding their mower and mowing their grass. They were seen mowing with a beer in their hand. They were not driving crazy or bothering anyone, just happened to be seen with a beer in hand while mowing, law got involved, tested for DUI and bingo, arrested.

Glad that you got her! Now, hopefully she had ins...

Sorry to hear of your bad luck. You did a good thing stopping her tho. For your sake, her sake and some other possible innocent victims sake.

Way to go

I have had several cars hit while they sat parked overnight. I had a fiat X1/9 back in 1985 that some lady crashed into. It was parked by the curb bothering nobody and this lady just drove right into it and shoved it 15 feet from where it was parked. She tried to get away but my neighbor got her plate number. Matter of fact, she did drive away and the police had to go to the owner of the cars house to get info. Turned out the owner said their daughter had taken the car without permission and that she was basically a run away and....blah .....blah .... The force of the impact totaled my car. I never got compensated.

A few years later, I had a Triumph TR7 that was also parked overnight in front of my house. It was in mint condition. Someone crashed into it crushing the front fender. Never found out who hit it. My insurance paid but the car was no longer mint of course. Two months later again someone backs up into it and puts a big dent in the same fender and crunches the drivers door.....

I had this one guy pull into the spot next to mine at a store. He opend his door hard right into my door. Left a real nice crease in my door. Yes, he tried to get away. I witnessed the whole thing as I was approaching my car.

I have no sympathy for people like this period. Nothing boils my blood more than people trying to get away after they just screwed somebody's property.

I hope she gets the book thrown at her severly !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me get this straight a in Florida a person can be arrested for drinking a beer while driving a lawnmower.:eyerole Now that's going too far.
On the other hand you guys have the right to concealed carry; and that's truly beautiful. :cool
