I did a forum search and read most of the threads and posts. But I gotta put this to y'all anyway.
Well..., how do I describe this?...
When I first pull off in the Vette, I'm hearing a disturbingly loud squeaking, not-quite-grinding-but-close sound coming from the rear left wheel area.
Wheel bearings, U-joints?
Braking is fine.
E-brake lets out fine.
The sound goes away after I drive for a while and everything warms up.
Don't see any signs of tire scrubbing.
Any suggestions, thoughts, ideas as to what this could be before I head to a shop will be very much appreciated.
:w

Sounds like a wheel bearing to me. After the greas gets warmed up it thins out to where it can lube the rollers.I had a 69 that did the same thing.

Yeah, I was leaning towards wheel bearing too.
What's the downside to driving a few more days with the situation like this? I know not good, but how much damage can I expect? I already have another car at the shop.
With both in the shop, I just don't wanna add the expense of a rental to the mix.
