i need to replace the IAC valve, going through my Haynes book, is shows that i need to remove the throttle body, is there anyway to remove the valve without removing the throttle body? i know its a pretty tight squeeze, just wondering if anybody else has done this?

thanks, Gil

i do believe the L98's screw in and yes I believe you can remove it without removing the throttle body, its a tight squeeze and be careful no to damage the plug

I removed mine without removing the TB. I used a pair of needle nose Vice Grips.

I would suggest that you go ahead and remove the TB to clean it. I ended up taking mine off when I replaced the injectors. It was pretty dirty.I realized I should have done that when I replace IAC.

I also would suggest taking the throttle body off and cleaning it. You want to be able to clean the pintle seat and you can't see what your doing without removing the throttle body.

As other folks have mentioned, taking the TB off to clean is the best way to go. Amazing how much gook and gunk ends up in that fella after all those years! And what a difference after cleaning them!

AFTER YOU ARE DONE CLEANING YOUR THROTTLE BODY, PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO SAVE THE :w!
