I don't know anything about photoshop. I just took the pic after sundown.

I use a Fuji S7000 camera set on auto and no flash.

I think Jim has the front mount a little tight on his car and it puts pressure on the hood causing it to open.

I'm a bit late to this thread, but I have picked quite a bit of information from reading it (the whole thing this afternoon). I fancy myself as a pretty good photographer (at least in the past). Here is one that I shot way back 30+ years using some of the ideas that were mentioned earlier in this thread (high angles-on a ladder). I just wish the original would have been better (cheap slide film then, scanned with a cheap scanner a couple of years ago). Color in the originals have shifted I tried to correct them but still not quite right.

Here's one that I took on a drive and dine with a group out of COS.
