inflatable restraint light on panel

Help .! my 90 Zr1, with 12k miles, that has not been hit at all ..suddenly ,had the inflatable restraint light come on about 3 months ago .I am unable to find an oem replacement from a dealership any suggestions ?? is there a substitute part any help is greatly appreciated thanks Billy Ray

90s have a well-documented problem with the SIR sensors developing bad grounds.

First, you MUST read the cautions about SIR maintenance in the factory service manual.

Then troubleshoot the SIR system per the FSM.

As for the grounding issue, if that's the problem, genreally you: disable the system then remove the sensors clean their mounts and the mounting surfaces and reinstall them. Clear codes then road test.

Again, observe the cautionary information in the FSM regarding service of the SIR system. Unintended deployment of the airbag while you are in the car will cause injury or death.
