What options are available for replacing an input shaft in a '99 vette?
Any website or contacts you can point me to would be greatly appreciated.
Background: 1999, 422/supercharged, 6-speed with RAM clutch.
I twisted my driveshaft. I had used stronger aluminum couplers, but too much torque and my driveshaft twisted. Able to salvage the torquetube. I now have a new carbon fiber drive shaft, new aluminum couplers (the old ones looked fine but I wont take a chance). Rest of the upgaded drive train remains fine.
Problem: the input shaft splines look to me to be worn and twisted as well. I want to replace the input shaft. GM tells me they sell the input shafts for 01-04, but not 97-03 (mines 99), and that I'd have to buy the whole assembly (torque tube and all) to get it for my 99. GM as well as the tuner/vendor who sold me the drive shaft told me the input shaft for the 01-04 will not work on 97-03.
c4c5specialist or anyone else with some thoughts on this??
If I can't track one down I'll have to order the whole assembly and spend the extra $.
