What options are available for replacing an input shaft in a '99 vette?
Any website or contacts you can point me to would be greatly appreciated.

Background: 1999, 422/supercharged, 6-speed with RAM clutch.
I twisted my driveshaft. I had used stronger aluminum couplers, but too much torque and my driveshaft twisted. Able to salvage the torquetube. I now have a new carbon fiber drive shaft, new aluminum couplers (the old ones looked fine but I wont take a chance). Rest of the upgaded drive train remains fine.

Problem: the input shaft splines look to me to be worn and twisted as well. I want to replace the input shaft. GM tells me they sell the input shafts for 01-04, but not 97-03 (mines 99), and that I'd have to buy the whole assembly (torque tube and all) to get it for my 99. GM as well as the tuner/vendor who sold me the drive shaft told me the input shaft for the 01-04 will not work on 97-03.

c4c5specialist or anyone else with some thoughts on this??
If I can't track one down I'll have to order the whole assembly and spend the extra $.

All the T56 input shafts are the same through all the years. Just replaced mine with a hardened one from D&D performance.

HI there,
In order to replace your input shaft, you will have to completely disassemble the transmission.
The changes were minor on the input shaft over the years of c5, but there are different part numbers. This is due to syncronizer changes inside, NOT the spline design going into the torque tube.

Thanks!!!

I was able to find an input shaft and its on the way. Once here ready to re-assemble. Not sure if I'm going to do two aluminum couplers or just one rear and a rubber in front with the carbon fiber drive shaft.

LGM who sold the carbon fiber drive shaft to me suggests one of each, and that the cf shaft eliminates the flex of the aluminum one that causes the couplers to fail. In my case, the couplers did not fail, as I had two aluminum couplers on there already, instead the aluminum shaft itself bent/twisted.

Thanks all for your help!
