iPhone vs OnStar App

???????????? I want my app to work!

I asked this same queston on the Corvette Forum and got this answer, "I would guess that OnStar is not the source of the problem, Corvette technology is. Although the 2011-2012 Corvette supposedly does have the Generation 9 hardware that OnStar requires, it apparently still uses the old Serial Data Link bus technology that the rest of the GM line abandoned years ago. The GM vehicles, Corvette included, that do not work with the app are either older-generation OnStar hardware or use the old bus or both."

Well, that does not seem to be the case, as today I got my second monthly diagnostic on my new Corvette from onStar. It reflected my total miles, and oil life remaining as well as a diagnostic check of all the car's systems.

Due to the diagnosic report, I assume onStar has access to this information as they reported it to me by email. So why will the app for my iPhone not work?

This seems to be a will on one hand and a will not on the other..........!

You are getting the On Star diagnostic because On Star is working. The app apparently just doesn't work with your Corvette. I can tell you that it works great with my 2011 Traverse. But it does seem odd that a $70K? Corvette doesn't have the correct software or equipment to make the app work. You might check with the On Star website as it may list what vehicles the app works with. At least I think I've seem a list of vehicles somewhere but can't seem to find it now.
