Ok, on this vette I checked out, on the right and left parts of teh front fibreglass, there was what seemed to be a sort of cracking thru the paint? ie. I could see short white lines showing thru the paint - what resembled stress or something - like when u bend plastic, it loses its colour to white... looked like that :)

the area that I mean is on the front at the sides - where the panel is at its highest.

The guy said it was due to heat, was just wondering if this was a sign of fractures i nthe 'glass or anything?

I'd have to see he car in person to pass judgement on it.....but it sounds like stress cracks at that body point.

The body is a series of bonded panels and the cracks are quite common........happens on road cars or trailered cars.....it doesn't discriminate!

Cracks at the high point might also indicate a poorly hung front partial clip. Look at the rest of the body lines to see if they lay right or have uniform panel clearance......or worst case....see if the nose or the car has a rise or a droop to it. Usually indicates a backyard fix........

If the cars owner can show that the car is in original paint.....the stress crack scenario is probably the culprit. It does look like a nice car from the pic. Jim

Those cracks are indeed along the bonding strips, i noticed that when I walked around the car. That's one of the things I mentioned as not being perfect. That along with the repair under the passenger fender lip.

By the way, I got back from Hershey Friday instead of Thursday so I didn't get a chance to call to go inspect it or anything. If you're coming to the Cruise-In this coming Saturday in Manassas, I'll call or you can call and see if he'll bring it to the cruise-in. That way we can run over it with a fine tooth comb under some bright sunlight.

I can't remember if I mentioned before but I know it's had a front end hit due to the rivet marks across the front above the headlights - a very common problem with fast cars:eyerole.

PM me or reply here and I'll go from there.
