Not trying to start trouble but what stopped me from buying a C6 Z06 was the exposed headlights. I'm talking about the clear plastic covering the HID lighting. What's to keep that clear plastic from turning yellow or dull? My neighbor has a '92 Camaro and the headlight lens covers are dull to the point where lighting is minimal. Is there a difference in lens cover material for the C6?;shrug

I don't think your going to start any trouble, bwing. Your just stating your opinion, IMHO.
As for the headlight covers, theres alot of advances in technology since 1992. So maybe these plastic lenses won't yellow. Only time will tell, I guess. I'll let you know in 14 years how mine look!!! :L

I have a 2002 Z06, and the headlights are not very good. My wife has a BMW with the HID headlights, and the difference is like night and day. I have seen the light! I would opt for the C6 headlights because of superior performance. Some people like the pop-ups for various reasons, but for me it comes down to the HID lights are just plain better.

I've had cars in my shop with this problem (foggy/hazy headlights) and it's not just a GM problem. A little compound and a buffing wheel goes along way to cleaning them up.

I agree. You need to do a little maintenance just like with your paint. Keep some wax/sealer on them and if they get milky/pitted, buff them out.......

Hi there,
The yellowing is usually due to AFTERMARKET lenses that are not adequately UV treated.
It is the UV that yellows lenses and creates issues.
When correct GM lenses are used, this does NOT occur.

Amen to that Brutha!!!! My C5's lights were horrible. I replaced the bulbs with Silverstars and that helped a tiny bit.

My C6 lights are like flame throwers compared to the C5 lighting!!!

So C4C5, what your saying is that the covers that came with my C6 should not yellow??? That's as long as I take care of them, correct??

Thanks everyone for your responses.

I've seen that the HID's on the C6's light up the roadway more than the C5 lighting. I've replaced my OEM's with PIAA bulbs and they are a lot brighter than the stock bulbs.

Chevy has some process that thy can restore your original finish for a modest fee. Also Mequiras has 2 or 3 great plastic restoreres on the market. Took some elbow grease but good results. Good luck

Hi there,
Yes, that is correct.
Your procedure to maintaining your light lenses can be found in your owners manual. It is not bad at all to do.
Use a good, NON ABRASIVE cleaner and the instructions and you will be just fine.

Not trying to be a wise guy, but that is why there are replacement parts on the market. It is just like anything else on the car, it has the potential to break, deform, color, malfunction, etc. Most cars today have plastic lenses, exposed glass headlights from the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, and early 80's are currently a thing of the past. If your are scared to buy a car simply because something can go wrong with it I guess you will be walking then.

Pop up headlights have there own problems also.

The DOT mandates plastic (instead of glass) in the USA if I'm correct????

I just don't want to put out the cashola on a new Z06 to have the headlight lens' turn dull and yellow in 5 yrs. If I had money to burn it wouldn't be a problem. I haven't seen Porsche's, BMW's or Volvo's with this problem. Come to think of it, I do like the Porsche GT3. :ohnoes

Well, this isn't 1992 and I doubt it's the same plastics used! These headlights can be easily replaced if the need ever arose for any reason!I hear TOYOTA headlights never yellow or break......:eyerole

Then buying a C6 a few $k under msrp should allow you some replacement sets???

I haven't seen any issues with them so far. I got a 2005 on the floor right now. There are products out there that keep it looking clear and like new.

Can't say that I have any unhappy Z06 customers so far!

I think the plastic material now in use for lenses doesn't turn yellow if as stated you try to keep them clean and with a coat of polish on them. But I have noticed earlier model cars with clear lenses that have turned really cloudy,C4C5specialist is very knowledgeable in maintaining any corvette.

This is what I use on my lenses~
