As soon as I can find someone I can trust to do the work for me, I can get started on the Vette again, now that the trailer finally sold. Anybody in the South Bay area of Los Angeles looking for work? :D

All I gotta do is pull the tranny again to turn the front bearing retainer, or collar if you prefer, so that the oil drain hole is properly located and I don't immediately lose all transmission lube that I put in. In other words, correct a mistake I made when I put this thing back togather this time. :hb

Trouble is, physically I know that I won't be able to handle the job this time around. I suffered too much after I installed the engine/trans a few months ago. Damn, a few?? More like about seven or eight months!! :mad

Anyhow, I need help, so if anyone knows of a reputable Corvette mechanic that is close to me, please let me know. I need someone close because I don't have a trailer anymore :L and I don't want to drive it long enough to heat the thing up too much and burn up a three, wait, I'm told it's now a four thousand dollar transmission. :eek

Thanks y'all. :CAC

you can always rent a trailer, it cost me $20 to bring home my vette when I bought it.
when you do find your mechanic, ask if he has a trailer, many of them do as many cars they work on don't arive under ther own power. Its good to hear you are making progress :upthumbs

Great to hear that your Trailer finally sold for ya Ken...

Now get back to work on that Vette...

As soon as we can get this Garage underroof, I will be getting back on mine...

Murphy's Law, and all of its corollaries, follows me wherever I go and in whatever I do. :eyerole

The Vette is in the transmission shop to rectify the oil leak. We pulled off the bearing retainer and what do you think we found? We find that I did, after all, install the retainer correctly when I put everything together back in May or June. However, we also discover that the retainer is obviously not the correct retainer/collar for my application, i.e., the ROD 6-speed. The part number is correct on the box, the part number is correct on my invoices, and the part number is something that I checked before I went to install the first time, way back in May of 2002, but this one isn't a 61-613 obviously. I don't know what it is for, but the area where there should be a seal, around the input shaft at the bearing race, there was an O-ring but no real seal; and no way to install one without machining the collar. :hb

I got on the phone with Tilton (Jeez, I even had their telephone number on my cell phone! :o) and had their technician talk to my technician. The collar's in the mail, and we all know what that means. :L

Maybe I'll get it back tomorrow, if they got the new collar on the big brown truck today, if not I won't see it again until Monday. But hey, we're getting closer! :L

You don't even begin to understand what this thing has put me through. To say that I'm excited about finally getting it right, would be an understatement to say the least. But I've gotta be careful and temper that enthusiasm, or else something else is bound to go wrong. :L

Hey Ken congrats on selling the trailer :beer Sounds like you're getting VERYclose now :_rock I'm working out the final bugs at this point and I know what you mean :( Murphy lives in my back pocket, I'm convinced ;)

Can you say "Ear-to-Ear Grin"? :D

How about "Jumping for Joy"? :J
At the party, everybody was feeling Merry, so she left. Then everybody started jumping for Joy, so she left too. ;LOL

I got it back today and no longer have a leaking emanating from anywhere on the vehicle. It's about friggin' time too!!

Now I can finish the interior and get the thing on a dyno to finally dial it in properly. I also solved the intake problem by utilizing a piece of aluminum tubing cut to size. Should work just fine. Click 'em to view 'em full-size.

:_rock :Roll time to:Steer Congradulations, I know when there is a Dyno-run in May hope to see you there!

I Like the way you mounted the coil pack on the vette, great job!

This is great news Ken. :upthumbs It is almost time for you to do some Rustang spanking!!:_rock

What rear tires are you going to run on the street? Since we dropped the 383 in the Dunlops on the rear of the 90 aren’t up to the job. I pretend that I have a raw egg between my foot and the happy-peddle but the backend still breaks aloes too easy.:D

The street tires do come loose easily, but I have Mickey Thompson E/T Streets if the need should arise. ;)

WOW Ken

That looks GREAT right down to the booties on your plug wires ;LOL Hey what is that filter for on the backside of the Dr. side wheel well?

SPANISHVETTS you aren't kidding, those SP 8000's are not gonna last long at all. I wanted to get some Khumo's but it looks like I'm gonna have to spend a lot more since they apparently don't make any 315's to go on the big 11" GS wheels I've got to go on when I can afford the tires :(

It's a breather tank for crankcase ventilation. Totally not EPA approved. :SLAP

Congrats, pal. I am quite happy that you see some light, finally. Now, I am fighting the greenies of envy, as I have more bugs to attack. Maybe later this week, mine will see unfiltered sunlight (got my dify back today).
