Let The Rear End Rebuild Commence!!!

74bigblock... another question for you. I was inspired by your pic and decided to reinstall my diff and driveshaft at the same time. I got it installed but I can't get the bolt for the front diff bracket down thru the hole and bushings. The driveshaft is in the way and sits to close to the hole to allow the bolt thru. Any tips on how you were able to do this?

Get a jack, and jack the diff up a little. Put the upper bushing in. Put the lower bushing in. Jack up some more, wiggle the bolt thru, put on asher, ock washer, nut. Tighten. You done!

That's how I did mine anyway!

Thanks. I finally got it. I had to take out the lower bushing, jack up the diff which in turn lifted up on the driveshaft just enough to slip the bolt in. What a pain in the a$$.

Yep! But better than messing around trying to bolt up the drive shaft while in the car!

In other news... I got mine running Friday nite. I couldn't believe it... All my neighbors came out to see (They heard me fire her up)! I put about 20 miles on her this weekend, with an eyeball allignment, and a ride height adjustment somewhere in there. What an amazing difference. The rear end feels so solid... no squeeks, no rubs, no vibrations. I gave her a wash on Saturday... and tonight she goes to the allignment shop. I pick her up Tuesday after work... then I will re-torque everything.

I do still have some work to do... The bolt I broke off on passeneger side frame rail for the sway bar mount still needs to be drilled out and re-tapped, sway bar needs to be installed. Also need to install new front sway bar, and replace the flex brake lines and bleed system in front, and swap out pads. But... she is on the ground, and drivable! I'll post up some final pix in the next couple days!
