Local UAW Ratifies Agreement with GM

The Bowling Green chapter of the UAW leads the way in contract negotiations with General Motors.
It's been less than a week since Corvette plant employees headed back to work after a two-day nationwide United Auto Workers strike.
Local UAW President Eldon Renaud told WBKO on Oct. 4 that Local Chapter 2164 has ratified a national agreement with GM and now awaits full passage by the rest of UAW locals.
The agreement was passed by 59-percent.
Contract negotiations will solidify healthcare and retiree benefits.
Other area chapters are expected to solidify their contracts by Oct. 7.
Renaud said the agreement includes bringing production of the Saturn Sky and the Pontiac Solstice to the Corvette plant.
He also added that they're excited and ready to bring new cars to the area.
