Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

Longer rear spring bolts...

( it only had about an inch and a half of threaded portion. )

That just may be enough thread, Ken. I brought mine down about an inch, which seemed to even things out, and from the bottom of the bolt to the bottom of the lower washer is right at 1 1/2". I did put new poly spring cushions in, tho. That might make a big difference. ;shrug

Here's what I got:

It appears as though it could be lowered with the existing bolts, no? Probably not low enough though. ;shrug

I used as much thread and then some, as you have showing. Your's looks just like mine before I started. (Did I say that?) :D

Gordon

Here's the left side. And these are 2" longer than the originals.

Gordon, looks like you need some new bushings in your shocks. Actually, it appears as though you need bushings, period - it doesn't look like there even is a bushing in the lower shock mount! :eek

Be careful about showing your bushings in public! :L

BTW, the polys are a bit thinner and may allow enuf lowering with the stock bolts, Ken.

Or lack of..............:eyerole

The whole time I had the wheels off changing those bolts, and not once did I look at the shocks. :duh Saw the same thing right as I posted the pic. The ribbing wasn't near as bad as I thought it would be. :D

Aw, nobody looks in here anyhow. Your secret's safe with us Gordon. :L

For some strange reason I keep seeing "Image of the Day" flashing before my eyes. ;LOL

Damned if I didn't forget to get any side shots of it today!

But I did capture some of the undercar shots...

I'll get some pictures of the car soon. ;)

I like it lower. :cool

Hey Gordon and or Ken, I saw the replys to this thread about the bolts. I have a question on the front end portion. How hard is it to install the spacers in the front to lower the car, do you need any special tools and about how long does it take? Thanks in advance.

G

Did you lower the front?

It looks really cool, well done Ken, I think that will be my next mod, you convinced me,

Exactly what did you do, details man.

Sorry, G.......Neither of us did the front, but if you go to www.madvet.com, click on tech info then on lowering a C4, it gives details on what to do. Someone will chime in that has done it tho. :) Better yet, start a new thread and ask that question and you'll probably get faster responses.

The article of which Gordon speaks is here. :CAC

We currently do not have an entry in our Tech Center regarding instructions for lowering a C4, but according to our friend Bill Rauch at The Corvette Forum...
Lowering the front of a C-4 Corvette is where things begin to get nasty. The rubber bumpers need to be cut off the top of the transverse spring and replaced with smaller urethane wedges included in the lowering kit. The only problem is that you gotta take the car half apart to lower it ½”-1".

See the entire article here.

Thanks Bill! :cool

We do however, have other articles of interest in our Tech Center if you are interested. :CAC

I did it years ago

So, dang it, don't ask ME for details.. LOL

It is quite easy but removal of the rubber spacer from the front spring is required. Installing the poly wedge won't yield more than about 1/2".

How long? How good are you and what tools U using, pal? Pliers take a while; air tools are quicker, said the smart a--.

Get ready to buy more spoiler parts, too. Remember to realign the car after.

Looks good, Ken.

I won't brag, but my car is so low that:
1) my oil pan fries the butts of ants in my path.
2) (UR sassy reply here) Surely, U can do better than that one!
