Make sure to add the open breather box when you add the new exhaust system. If you make it breathe out better, you have to let it breathe in better.

Open breather box?

I believe he means the cut air filter lid.

I did a couple of searches on here and Google, but I'm not sure if I understand exactly what it does. Does anyone have a photo of this? :confused

Yes, I am talking about the cut lid (or open lid). Every thing you do to it should be balanced.

Don't forget the O2 sensors, replaceing these really important.

Funny you should mention that. I had an O2 sensor replaced about six months ago. Then about a month ago, I had the same symptoms (rough idle in drive or overdrive along with burning coolant smell). The shop thought it must have been a defective O2 sensor and replaced it under warranty. Just a week ago I had the vette idling in a parking lot for just a minute and it sounded so shaky that I thought it was going to die. Again, there was that same smell. It hasn't acted up the same way since then, but the shop will also investigate that next week.

If you have coolant smell and you have been driving your car your going to have to look at A/F leak internal. Fix it very quick or its an engine overhaul.

Magnaflows and KYB's were both installed today. The only problem is that I can't seem to get this weird smile off my face... :D The sound is perfect. The first time I turned it over it gave me that feeling I had the first time I ever started it up three years ago. What a prrrrrrrr. The exhaust looks just as good and roars when I step on the gas. THIS is why I bought a Corvette to begin with.

With the new KYB's, it feels like a whole different car. I'm waiting on the K&N filter, but otherwise this was exactly what I was looking for in "oompf"!

Thanks everyone for all of the tips! I have some of them still rattling in the back of my head (it's like a virus spreading...must upgrade...). :beer

Best news yet is that we're heading down to Bowling Green tomorrow night to see the NCM (third time) and the plant (first time) on Friday!

Thanks again!! :lou

(Also, if you haven't seen it, please check out the link on the top of the forums pages about the Conquer Cancer Corvette C6 project! Help a brother if you can! )

Don't forget to put some fuel injector cleaner in before you go to BG. One more thought on the sluggish running. Could you have gotten a bad tank of gas? I have and usually whatever I am driving or riding will run like a dead possum. The upside of that is some dry gas and running the bad gas out will fix the problem. I generally go to the busiest station around on the theory that they are pumping more prem. than a low volume station. If you have'nt guessed by now gas is an obsession for this old F---:D

Fuel injector cleaner is somewhat of a panacea with the fuel injectors on GM cars after 1992 (GM went to self-cleaning Multec style injectors in '92), but the most overlooked item in the fuel system is the fuel filter. Replace this item religiously every 10,000 miles! Most tip-in hesitations are caused by a clogged or partially clogged filter (most people think out of sight, out of mind), and it's also the #1 cause of fuel pump failure. Good choises are the Delco GF481 (oem replacement) or NAPA Gold 3481 (both of these filters I sell, use and install - nothing else!) You may find some "new HP" replacing the filter. ;)

Of course, some will say after FI service, that their cars run better, but most FI services usually entail replacing the filter (included or as an add-on), and that's where the biggest SOTP gain comes from.

This is a 'bump' for some very good professional advice.......

If you experience a clogged fuel filter, you might want to open the filter and determine the source of the contamination, rust, water, etc.... Keep in mind that there is a filter/strainer attached to the fuel pump in the tank that can, also, be clogged, restricting fuel flow. A clogged filter is the secondary cause of fuel problems; contaminated fuel being the primary cause. So, if you continue to experience a clogged filter, you might want to check your tank for corrosion, water invasion, and you might want to change your fuel supplier. A simple check for the 'flow' condition of the filter is the periodic use of a fuel pressure gage. Any drop in pressure would indicate potential filter or pump problems. Here is a inexpensive gage link: http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/quickfpg.html

That one got me! :D

Oh man, there is just no way to look positively at a citroen! :puke Even when I was a kid and I saw one go by, I had to shut my eyes! Not to offend anybody that owns/loves them, but they are the brussel sprouts of the automotive design world.

Do you think we should get this thread pulled before (What is his name?) he is always yammering about quick silver (Gray) sees it and wants one.;):L
