I've done similar work to my LT-1. All the numbers match, but I redid the entire suspension with compsites and polyester, offset trailing arms so I could stuff 15 x 10 wheels with 275s in the rear. the big sneakers make a HUGE difference in the handling. Flat Flat Flat in the corners. The engine is stock save for headers and flowmaters, and MSD. the holley has been rejected on a Dyno and I am getting about 290 at the rear wheels (not bad for a '72). Plus clutch, Ac work, new clock, American Racing Torque Thrust, new weather stripping , etc etc. The paint is a good 10 foot job.

I JUST FOUND THIS SITE,I'M THRILLED THAT SOMEONE STARTED A SITE FOR THESE RARE VETTES,ONLY 4977 MADE IN 3YEARS.
MY 71 LT-1 IS MULSANNE BLUE,CONVERTIBLE,4SPD,NOT ALOT OF OPTIONS,PS,PB,AM/FM/STERO,HARD TOP,ALARM SYSTEM,STILL LOOKING FOR BUILD SHEET,HOPE IT'S STILL ON TANK.I LOVE DRIVING THIS CAR.:Twist

Welcome from another '71 LT-1 convertible owner! I was happy as well to find this unique site. The CAC as a whole has been growing by leaps and bounds lately!
Tell us more about your car. How many miles? Is it mostly stock? What color interior?
Dick

my LT-1 has about 91,000miles original, mostly numbers match, and mostly stock,dk blue interior, seats were re-done in blue and white leather, white soft top, also have a hard top ,i hate to put it on.

Sounds nice! I know what you mean about the hardtop, I don't think I've had mine on the car in ten years! Makes a nice wall ornament though. :L

LT1

I am the proud owner of a 1971 Nevada Silver, LT1. The car has had a complete "body-off" restoration, in which the engine was balanced and blue pronted. Originally 4.11 posi, now 3.36 posi (I have original gears).

Oh yeah, mine is also a number-matching 1971 LT1. I forgot to mention that in my previous post (the Nevada Silver frame-off).

LT-1's w/ AC

Have any of you AC LT-1's gone over the 5600 RPM redline? I haven't had a chance to find out yet!

Tony, Your 72 with a/c is a sure a rare LT-1 and I bet it sure would be nice to have one with a/c and find out if I could toss a belt at 5,600 up to 6,500 redline w/o the a/c,......:-) Tom Save The Wave!!!

LT-1/Air Redline

I've gone well over the 5600 redline in my car and I haven't tossed a belt yet. . . :Steer

Because of this forum I was inspired to finally go and photograph my car. (Hell, I've only had the digital camera for a year!)

side.jpg

The sidepipes are stock for a 69 and were a dealer added option. The wheels, also added by the dealer, are from Appliance Racing.

back2.jpg

The rear is painted in a white Imron which reflects light like a streetsign at night, as if the car could be missed with the bright yellow paint and 140DB exhaust!

interior2.jpg

The interior is bone stock and in great original condition except for the aftermarket floormats and steering wheel cover.

tach.jpg

The 72 LT-1/Air "special" tach.

I'm not going to photograph the engine until I've had a chance to do some cleanup and detail work! :)

I hope the pictures aren't too big. . .

Erik

Very nice! And welcome! I like the side exhaust, I'm thinking about doing it myself, especially since my exhaust is still the original...but it still sounds great and doesn't leak...so I'm probably gonna wait it out.

HEY ERIC, GREAT LOOKING CAR,I LIKE THE COLOR AND SIDE PIPES

Nice Looking

Erik, That's a great looking ride you have there! Like the luggage rack too! Looks like you've got just about every option possible on your rare set of wheels,..Welcome to the forum! Tom Save the Wave!!!:v

I just got a copy of the birthday book fron ncrs,I've also e-mailed the writer,Dennis Moore,he said the the numbers on the days are as close as he could find,if the numbers are right,my 71 LT1 convertible vin#5267 might be the last one built in 1970,according to the book my car was built on December 31,the last vin#for the month was 5269,if this is correct I'd feel pretty lucky to have the last on built for that year, that is if the last two vettes were not LT!'s.If that really means anything, what do you think? But who knows for sure.

Just entered the forum and would like to add my car

I'm from MA

I know how you feel, Ed. I purchased my LT-1 in January (1971 Nevada Silver/Black) and I have to be content to just start it up every now and then. By the way, I live in MA (Worcester).
