Hey Ltone72,

We're neighbors. I'm down here in Peoria with a 71 Ontario Orange Lt-1 that I'm starting to restore after owning for 9 years. Welcome to the Lt-1 forum. I just joined a couple days ago myself and have been learning more and more each day. Quick question, what are you looking for to part with your car?

Save the wave,
Cal

Calvin,
Thanks very much for providing this information. I really appreciate it.

mind if I join in? I've had my '72 LT-1 for about 2 years now, and I love that every time I take it out of the garage I still smile like the first time I sat in it, (could this be love?). 89K, #'s, all options, (yes a/c) , mostly original. The only thing I have changed so far is the stock ignition for an MSD. I have a set of '69 factory side pipes in my garage to go asap, along with some TT-II's. Next year I am going to re-do the interior. I guess it must be love, I don't mind spending money on her!:bu

Welcome to the Group,

I just joined a few weeks ago myself. It's great talking to fellow LT-1 owners. FYI, I only saw one LT-1 at the Chevy/Vettefest in Chicago yesterday. It was a green 72 so I'll see if I can figure out how to attach pics and will post them. My 71 LT-1 has 58K and is currently red w/black interior but is suppose to be Ontario Orange w/black interior, which I plan on changing back to soon. After owning her for 9 years an collecting lots of parts I'm now about ready to launch into a frame off restoration. Wish me luck. I'll keep everyone posted and look forward to talking to you.
Cheers,
Cal

I saw the green LT1 in Chicago, too. It was a nice car, I found a correct alternator for my car from a vendor. It is a used, unrestored piece that was correctly dated for my car. The price was $295 and I passed on it. I thought that was a bit high for a piece that would need to be rebuilt. I heard that the green car was for sale.

So how was Vettefest this year? I didn't make it. I understand your frustration with the used alternater price. I was going to buy a 69-75 steering wheel last year at the spring show for a project I'm working on. There were at least 50 of them there at different vendors. Some had them in stacks. The cheapest one I found was $135. and it had flaws. I'm still looking.

I think they should consider taking the US dollar off of the gold standard and put it on the used Corvette parts standard.

The show was good, not quite as good as past years, but still worth the trip from Texas. There was only the one Elkhart Green '72 LT1 there, although there were lots of other nice cars. There was a yellow '72 Z28 that just drove me nuts, I really liked it. How about the '65 fuelie with factory sidepipes, it had a window sticker but was built in September of '64. There were many questions raised about that car, although I thought the window sticker looked original. If real, it is the only documented fuelie with sidepipes ever seen and certainly the earliest '65 sidepipe car. I enjoyed seeing it. The "four" mile '72 roadster was there, looking good as usual. Lots of Supercars, the '68 Dick Harrell 11,000 mile car was there as was the #3 orange ZL1 Corvette!!!! I've read lots about this car and enjoyed talking with the owner who bought it in new '69. Certainly an interesting car. There was a '66 maroon convertible at the D & M trailer that was an interesting car. Nice options and a window sticker on display. About 5:00 PM the show was winding down and I was looking at the car and I asked one of the folks to tell me about the car (thinking it was for sale) he said, "sure, I bought it new and I still own it". We spoke for about 45 minutes, what a story of a 26 year old buying a sidepipe big block new and driving it all those years and having it restored by D & M.
It will be going for the gold this year at Bloomington. Overall, a fun show.

I have had my LT1 for about 12 years now. I have been on the other forum for about 5 years now and just signed up for this one. Spent countless dollars on this car and just bought a set of TTIIs for it. I have had the frame off once and done the motor twice. 1st was a stock one then modified it. Done the suspension twice also. Stock then modified. Just put in the Tremec last winter, best mod I have ever done.

I have a 1972 LT1 coupe. Not Correctly Restored Corvette but a very nice driver.

White (Pearl) with black interior, 4 spd, 370 gears, power steering, rear defogger fan.

Got the nice solid lifter sound and it loves to rev.

Will not start without choke.

Needs a little detailing otherwise clean rust free car.

1970 LT1 Coupe car # 00006 Ontario Orange

Hi Steve,

I have the 1970 LT1 coupe, Ontario Orange, car # 00006. Assembly line job #38A. This car is documented as a 1970 Pilot Job car. It is equipped with Deluxe leather interior, power brakes, power windows, alarm system, tilt telescopic steering column, M21 transmission. The built date is October 23, 1969, but the body mold date is July 16, 1969. It is believe that the car was originally sold at DeNooyer Brother Chevrolet in Kalamazoo, MI (Portage address), to employee who worked in the parts department. His name is John Coe. He was also a member of the Kalamazoo Corvette Club and used the car for auto cross racing. He stored the car in a building in Schoolcraft, MI from 1977 until the tornadoes hit in October 25, 2001. Then sold it to a friend. If anyone has any information regarding this car, even during the pilot testing days please contact me. It is also believed that this car was on the cover and back page of Corvette News Feb/Mar 1970. I would apprecaite any help. Thanks Barry

Hi Steve

I have a 1970 LT1 coupe, car # 00006, Ontario Orange, documented pilot car. The car right now has 9,795 miles. It has deluxe black leather interior, power windows, power brakes, alarm system, am/fm radio, M21, TI ignition system, etc. The body was molded on July 16, 1969. However, the built date is October 23, 1969. The car was purchased at DeNooyer Brother Chevrolet in Kalamazoo, MI by employee named John Coe, somewhere in the late 1970 to early 1971. He worked in the parts department and was a member of the Kalamazoo Corvette Club. He used the car for autocross racing. He parked the car in a building in Schoolcraft, MI in 1976, that was the last time the car was registered and driven. Then on October 25, 2001, some tornadoes came through the area and caused a lot of damage to homes and buildings, one of them was the building the LT1 was in. Mr. Coe then sold the car to a friend and it sat for another 4 years in a metal barn. I am trying to learn some of the past history of the car when it was used as a pilot car. I believed the car was pictured on the cover and back page of Corvette News Feb/Mar 1970 issue. IF anybody can provide any information with regard to this car please contact me @ jordanlash@aol.com or 407 322 8388. I would appreciate any help.

If I could figure how to puts some pictures on this form, I would do it.

8kgold69,
I believe there is a 1970 corvette registry that you might want to register you car in. There might also be someone in that registry that can help you out. Try a web search for 1970 corvette registry.

Another 1972 LT-1 Convertible

I just bought a restored 1972 LT-1 Convertible, did someone sell one recently? :)

1972 Roadster

Hey Ya'll, I purchased mine about a year ago. It's a 72 Roadster,M21,PB,PS,PW with AC. It is now painted Sunflower Yellow but it should be Ontario Orange. Like most, it's a work in progress.

Later,

Mike

Went to a show this past weekend, and there was a really nice '70 LT-1 parked behind me. It was Bridgehampton blue, and really nice as you can (hopefully) see (This might be a little better!):
