What is typical oil pressure at cruising rpm, 1,600-1,800, on the freeway?

On mine, I typically see the oil pressure at 3/4th on the guage early on. But after its been cruising on the freeway for long enough, it seems to drop down to 1/3rd or 1/4th on the guage.

I don't actually know what the metric on the guage is. If it's like other V8's I've owned, it's probably 0-60psi. So that would be 45psi... dropping down to a minimum of 15 psi or so when it's warm at cruise. Maybe a little higher than that, actually. I'm not sure.

The gauge goes 0 to 80... about 50 to 60 when cold... after driving for a while it goes down to as low as 15 or so...

I did the conversion from KpA and PSI. Hope this helps.

KpA PSI
550 (highest) 80
412 60
275 (middle line) 40
137 20
70 10

First few minutes of idle-60psi. After temperature gets to 200, around 30psi (5w-30 mobil 1) w/66K miles.

Once mine warms up, it runs about 45-50 psi at speed and about 30 psi at idle.

Ditto.....until I step on it..then 60#'s plus

LT4 oil pressure.... 60 psi@cruise

LT4 with 38k miles, Mobile-1 5w30.... runs 70 cold, 60 cruise, 40 idle.

LT4 w/ 74,000 miles. Original owner - ordered from factory. Using Castrol 5W50 since new. 60+ psi when cold. 60 psi cruising. 50 psi when hot & idling on 90 degree day in Chicago. Needless to say, I am happy with Castrol Synthetic Oil.
