Question: manuals

Can someone tell me what the difference is between a shop manual and a service manual?

Ralphie, Welcome to CAC. What you want is a Factory Service Manual (FSM). This would be the GM service manual for your model and year. There may be more than just one factory manual. (i.e. 1988 vette has 2, 1989 has 1 with suppliment). These are also known as service shop manuals. You can also find non factory service manuals from other sources like CDs and generic (Haynes for example). Hope this helps.

i think i know what he is saying.. i have the same confusion .. i find some listed as factory service manuals and others listed as shop manuals and get them both from the same search.... and i have wondered myself what is the difference
