aloha,im thinking of insalling the relocated/reprogramed mat sensor.anyone done this? i looked at the breahtless performance instructions, very unclear. i know the stock one is at the rear of the plenum/manifold,there directions on the web site say"other end on other side, drill hole." drill hole where? in manifold? in the picture it does not look like the wiring harness is more than a couple of inches long. if i had it in my hand i know i could figure it out, but im not sure i want it yet.sorry if im posting to much, but it is called the 'action center'.later,Todd.:

aloha, thanks for your opinion.maybe i will save my money, later,Todd

MAT Sensor

c4/c5specialist is correct, minimal if any gain. The reason for the mod. is to sense air on the other side of the stock metal MAF sensor that conducts heat. It is supposed to give you a more true reading of the incoming ambient air temperature, without picking up heat off the MAF housing. I never expected to feel any difference, and I could not tell any. To answer your question about installation, you have to drill a 3/8" hole in the air bridge where you see a round flat knub on the side. Insert the rubber grommet that comes with the kit, in the drilled hole. Then insert the sensor in the grommet, and plug the wiring back in. It takes about 10 mins. tops. This is a small mod. that can be done in conjunction with other mods. in the grand scheme of things such as, K&N filter, coolant bypass, 160 degree thermostat, Nylon mass air flow ends, and fan control switch to bring the fans on alittle earlier, if you are in stop and go traffic. I've done all of these mods. to keep my incoming air as cool and dense as possible. I run around 172 degrees at highway speed.

aloha, great name;) i have the halltech t-1 intake, thermostat will be here soon, with fan control,i am probably going to get the sensor since humidity is so bad here,i would not do this mod if it was the only mod planned. i did not have time to call the company today, in there photo/add, the wiring harness does not look long enough to reach past the m.a.s.the m.a.t., is the one on the rear of the plenum/intake manifold right?:confused it almost sounds like they meant the i.a.t. its the photo that throws me off, the wiring harness only looks a couple of inches long.i have no doubt that what you and c4/c5 spec say are correct, i will take any gains i can without doing major/internal engine mods.thanks for the reply, later,Todd.

mat sensor

The stock m.a.t. sensor location is in the duct that connects to the back of the m.a.f. sensor, running between it and the throttlebody on the drivers side. They want you to mount it on the other side, in the round flat knub, but the better location would be in the air filter housing before the mass air flow sensor. I believe that the new harness plugs into the existing and should be long enough. If not, you can extend the wiring using the same guage wire. HEY GREAT NAME TOO!

yea, i did end up getting it, i immediatly realized that the kit was talking about the IAT intake air temp sensor, they just call it the manifold air temp sensor,i ran it straight over the radiator and into my halltech t-1,right behind the filter, all my wires are in red loom,so i had to do a clean routing job.just painted the intake red too :D thanks for replying, later,Todd.
