Cfour- I think we're on the same page. I do think that it's a shame that some of Corvette's biggest enthusiasts are getting priced out of the game.
It seems to me that some of the folks that own Corvettes and are not necessarily enthusiasts are moving cars that have the "stature" that the new Vette's prices ususally bring (Mercedes, BMW, Porsche, Jaguar, etc.).
Don't get me wrong, to me the Vette is the End-all-be-all American sports car. That's why I bought one. Unfortunately, though, many folks feel that the fact that it is American puts it on a lower level than the high-end imports.
Therefore, GM needs to make a choice. Either keep it in the "value" range, which would require them to quell the recent price hikes, or try to go after the imports. To me, they're choosing the latter, and now the sky is the limit as far as price for these machines.
I haven't decided if I think that's the right thing to do or not.
