memory seat help/dealership at question.

have an new 04 bought this year. have 7k miles on it and it's throwing codes for the LDCM, RDCM and the SCM and a couple for the radio. also the car on startup in the morning would show a charge system default code. every once in a while when getting out of the car, or into the car, the memory would stop halfway into moving the seat position.
codes were B2282, B2284, B2286, & U1064. B2283, B2285, B2287, U1064. B2607. all these codes were historical(H).
The dealerhip didn't have any idea what was the problem was and replaced the alternator as they thought that was the cause of the "charge system default" they also said they did some research and found that "document 894451" dated 6/19/02 explained about erroneous codes thrown for this. I searched TSB's for this and found none. did I not look hard enough or am I being blown off by the dealership.

I looked around in the Knowledgebase under Electrical and Ignition but probably saw the same things you did. Nothing seems to be a real match.

I know its a stretch, but did they check out the battery? Some C5 batteries are pretty notorious for not lasting as long as they should, and producing very strange results when they're in the last throes.

I'm inclined to agree with Tammy about the battery. Even though those codes check as History codes, the fact that they remain in your system's memory is telling. From our "Pulling Codes" thread, I did a check:

From A0-LDCM (Left Door Control Module)
B2282 = Battery #1 Fault
B2284 = Battery #2 Fault
B2286 = +5V Reference Fault
U1064 = Loss of Communications with BCM (Body Control Module)

From A1-RDCM (Right Door Control Module)
B2283 = Battery #1 Fault
B2285 = Battery #2 Fault
U1064 = Loss of Communications with BCM (Body Control Module)

From A6-SCM (Seat Control Module)
B2607 = Seat Horizontal Position Failure

Since this is a new purchase for you, I'm guessing you may not have any idea how long that battery has been in service. I think you're best bet would be invest in a new battery.

This also can tell you why the "check engine light" is on or you experience some other problem. If you post the codes here, someone can look them up for you. The 4 digit code is usually followed by an "H" (history) or a "C" (current)

I have a similar problem with the seat stopping short of the correct position when I enter and when I am getting out. I just kind of ignore it. I figured it was from lack of use and there may be a dirty contact 'cus when I move the seat back and forth al the way a few times it works fine for a while. The other codes I don't know about. - Ron

well, it's been a week since I've had it back, no more codes, no more charge system default, and no seat acting funny so far. Maybe the alternator was truely bad. I can tell they replaced it as the alternator looks newer than the one that was in there, also the bolts to the alternator had marks on them. the car is due for an oil change this week. I will probably check the battery for a bad cell, maybe, never know.

Even with a brand new battery sometimes my seat will stop short. If I hit the memory button when it does this sometimes the seat will go all the way forward. Not a good feeling when you're 6'2" ! It's an intermitant problem. It also seems if I "interupt" the seat moving forward by starting the car the problem occurs less. I had some of the codes listed above but all were history.

I also had a similar problem. I switched to my second key and reset the memory and everything has been fine. Just a thought.

Ok ill ask do you every take your car to the car wash.
There is a connector under the drivers seat for the memory functions that gets broken.

There is something a little spooky about Patrick's font. To most of us, it looks normal (and my eyes aren't the greatest, either). But to some, their computer system displays it as very small. We haven't quite figured it out, except that perhaps some computers don't have that font and use a poor substitute.

You know, it's funny. In nearly three years at the CAC, I've been using the same font the whole time. I've only gotten a couple of complaints about the font, and they all seem to have come within the last three or four months.

The font I use is arial narrow, and I'm starting to wonder if some computers just aren't programmed with that font, and are therefore substituting something even smaller for it.

Is anyone else having a problem reading my posts?

I have viewed your post on 3 computers and it looks normal on two of them. They are all running the same version of XP so there must be some setting that's different on one. Having said that, and after viewing the various font selections, I have to ask - why arial narrow? It doesn't appear to be the easiest to read.

Stylistic preference. Letters are narrower (so text doesn't appear as bulky.) And you have to admit- you know it's different when you see it.
