Metallic chatter/squeak from rear wheel

Here's my problem:

I hear a metallic chatter/squeak from my right rear wheel during acceleration that has been occuring more frequently over the past couple of days. The oscillation of the squeak seems to match tire RPM's (something downstream from the differential), and the sound stops when I take my foot off the gas or throw in the clutch.

The car still drives and breaks smoothly. No vibrations or anything like that, just the metallic squeak/chatter sound.

Does anybody have any ideas before I tear into it? My only guesses are wheel bearing or a u-joint.

Thanks,
Culprit

Turned out to be the wheel-side u-joint on the half shaft. It was completely gone and the heat it generated fused it to the bracket that bolts to the wheel so I need a new one of those as well.

I have a similar problem, so thanks for the tip, Culprit :)
