Mystery switch?

With hood popped, on the top of the firewall, just a little bit starbord of the heater core there lies a switch that is depressed when the hood is closed. My brother snapped off the two connectors that were on that switch, but I have so many electrical gremlins right now (wipers, horn, interior lights, heater fan) , i dont know what that may have hurt.

Or, at least it used to be!
Mine never worked either. Unfortunately, I didn't get the bright idea to remove mine until after the car was painted and it started making fresh pits in the paint. Nice....
