i just had clean up another aluminum intake manifold and got smart this time and removed the pan on the underside first before glass beading it.
I now have to reinstall that pan. The pan is held in by 4 little push-in type rivit thingys and I thought Paragon had them but they don't and neither does Dr. Rebuild or LICS or any of the other vendors that I have a catalog for (unless i'm just blind and not seeing it).

does anyone know a good source for these little rivits?

thanks!

Thanks! I hate to admit I never even thought of the Chevy dealership parts dept.
A pack of 10 is not problem, at least i'll have them for the future for the next time also - although why TEN is the quantity they package them in is curious when you need 4 at a time. You would think 8 or 12, but 10??
reminds me of how the number of hot dogs and hot dog rolls are always different also.
I just bought nylon fuel bowl washers for my Holley Carb and I needed 8 of them and they did the same thing - a package of 10.

Barry,

I just got a pack from GM for my intake. If you want 4, email me your address and I will send them out.

Very generous of you!
I found the part number and they are not expensive at all so I'll just run over to my Chevy dealer and pick up a set.
i'll probably need the extra set eventually anyway on another intake.

I appreciate the offer though! :beer

Barry,
I havent been around, just got back from vacation and was wondering if you got your distributor back.I've been chating w/Bill myself, and trying a few other things before I send him mine.
Just wondering if yours works like new..Thanks Jim

Jim

been wondering where you were! Hope you had a great time on vacation.

Yep, I got my distributor back from Bill, it looked great and the car runs like a CHAMP. FINALLY, after two years of owning the car she runs good! :)

I had a bit of a problem after reinstalling the carb and the distributor and it took two days to figure the problem out with help from a forum member/new friend who lives close to me but we got it figured out - turns out it was a dumb, careless mistake on my part when I put the new gaskets in the carb to stop the leaks.

Bottom line, Bill did a super job on my distributor and I'm thrilled with it.
i also managed to stop the leaks that the carb had when it came back from the rebuilder. Now I can stop worrying and fooling around with the '65 for this winter and concentrate my energies on the '78 project car. :)

Barry,
Thats awsome..and exactly what I wanted to hear. Actually Bill said he lives within 30 min from craig(the carb guy)and he thought he did good work.Anyway I'm thinkin it wouldnt hurt to just pull the distributor and let Bill check it out.
Curious though, how long did it take to get it back..you know spring is almost here..
One way or another this car is going to scream this year !!
