How much to fix the nose crack? Does that require a complete new bumper?

I think all of our 73s on here have cracked noses...very common with the old urethane covers.....Im going to replace mine this year with a fiberglass one...Not stock but it fits better, no waves and wont crack after time....They cost around $250 to 300 plus labor and repaint....not a bad job at all.....

Oh yeah....make sure headlight operation is ok....up down in out etc....

just kidding about the in out part...just up and down.....;)

I read what everyone has said thus far. Does $9500 sound all that unreasonable? of course, there are going to be issues with the car. But even at that, $9500 doesn't sound like a bad price! He's not concerned about originality, so given that... I just like the idea of a 454. And if he's already had all the suspension redone, sounds like the frame could be his only concern...
My less than 2¢... :D

Evolution......your .02 was good...I agree....$9500 sounds very reasonable even if it needs a few little things.......I said AOK buy to me.....get it ??????
"A" "OK" OK as in Okhlahoma... where he is from.....hahahahaha:D ;LOL ;) :D :L ;LOL :rotfl ;) :D

Mine isnt cracked, however when painted , rubber and fiberglass require 2 diffrent kinds of paint. its very hard to make them match perfectly.
if i have a chance im getting the fiberglass one also.
With it on there is no seam joining the 2 pcs together, making the nose look awesome.I saw one at a show and wish i had a camera to show the diffrence.Im not going to "nose" my vette into anything so im not concerned about the rubber giving when hitting something.
BTW, I think the price is fair, the thing is do YOU think its what is right for YOU.What does it matter, if the price is what you can afford and the car is what you want...go get it dude!
What matters is that your the happy one when the deal is done.
my 2 pennies

Shows how much I know ... :L

But I WILL learn!!

KOP,

Up at the top of the page go to the Tech Center, then Model Center and click on 1973 and you'll find all the Production/Specifications/RPOs and a lot of other information ;)

If you are looking for the RPO for this perticular car... unless he has the order sheet, or build sheet, or window sticker (if they had them WAY back then ;LOL ) it is kind of a look and see what's there, and what may have been added or modified, for $9,500 I personnally wouldn't be too concerned about being 100% original. UNLESS you want a NCRS type 73 ;)

Thanks Bud, I have already printed the production sheets you mentioned. Good stuff there.

For some reason I was thinking there might be a list of RPOs that came with the car like there is on my C4. Guess they didn't do that way back then, eh?

But you are right, I'm not that concerned about modifications, just wondering what came on the car and what is still on it. More of a curious interest than anything else.

I presume the trim tag will list original paint code, interior etc?

Dammit...

Check the areas others have indicated, especially the with the way the rear wheels look to be slanted inward at the top. But it is on sitting on grass so maybe the ground was not level. A few items I see in the pictures are: missing wiper arms and no passenger side door panel - only minor items. However the price seems reasonable if the major mechanicals are in good order.

Whoa! Holy geeze, dude! Major sharp eye there! Day-um! Good catches!!!
:BOW

The wiper arms I caught after you mentioned it. The passenger side door trim I had to look at closer. "Where the hell did he see an interior pic???" N-i-c-e catch!....

About all I know so far:

Has overhauled original 454 except for intake and heads, cam. Has higher comp heads and hotter cam (from what I've been told thus far). 4 spd w/ 68k.

Silver w/ox blood interior. I know the front bumper will need cracks repaired or replaced.

What I am looking for is advice on what to check out and what to look out for. I am not concerned with originality, matching. Where to check for rust, what to expect for the price - $9.5k

...

Looks really nice! :)

The devil is in the details...
The engine looks very clean. I'd take a look under the car first, but I doubt the frame has serious rust based upon the lack of corrosion in the corners under the hood. It looks a bit too "well kept" to have serious rust issues. Again, I'd take a look under it first.

If the frame is just as clean and it drives well- buy it. It looks like a great deal- even if it needs some light "finishing".

Here are some more pics.

You guys were right about the pitch out of the wheels. You can see the amount in the first two pics. Now since the guy has replaced the adjustment rods (whatever) I'm wondering if the car just need realigned or not. Tires look good. No signs of anything other than surface rust so I don't think the trailing arms are the problem, but I guess it could be. A couple of leaks as you can see in the pics. I'm mostly concerned about the leak at the rear of the oil pan. The other is at the power steering. Car looks remarkably well otherwise. VIN on pillar matches VIN stamp on the block. The owner has had the car since the late 70's. Tank has not been molested so there is no tank sticker in hand to look at.

Another thing. He took it upon himself at some point to lower the back end. As I was driving the car, the steering was VERY touchy and very easy to over steer. I was wondering if by chance he has messed up the weight distribution or steering geometry by lowering the back end. The right side rear is 28" to the bottom of the fender well and the left side is 27 1/2". Just looking at the car from the side it is apparent the rear sits lower than the front.
