I just got a call from my dealer and he says that GM is no doing the 72 month 0 percent interest thing again. I like the C6s (especially with the Z51) and I saw a couple of C6 Z06s a few weekes ago (still had the front and rear covers on them but I got to look close at a parked one) but I don't see GM doing anything like the 72 month 0% on them until maybe a C7 comes out. This car is Millenium Yellow (which I love), with the mirrors, memory package and moldings (don't like the moldings but I think I can remove them). I can get the car for the GMS price of $46,008. Should I do it?? One rub is I would have to trade in my 01 Camaro SS (345 hp, 6-speed, red w/ black leather, T-tops, etc) which I really like and they would only give me $15,000 for it (which looks to be a pretty good price for having 55,000 miles on it).

Thanks.

Let me think... '04 ZO6, ME, $408 a month...WHAT'S STOPPING YOU MAN?!?!?!

I would do it but I would try to sell the Camaro personally instead of having the dealer give me a bath. But honestly, Camaro's have such poor resale value. :(

Take one for a drive; you will know right away if it's the car for you or not.

Just curious, how did you come across the C6 Z06's?

I was out at the GM Desert Proving Grounds in Mesa AZ. Saw one in a garage and one outside parked - none were driving but the was a Pontiac powered Daytona Prototype that sounded real good running on the track!

Nice find. :upthumbs

I was in a similar position when I decided to buy (came from an '84 coupe that I loved to death). Take one for a drive...you won't be disappointed.

Buy the Z06 but sell the SS privately. Tell the dealer to knock 3g's off the price, no trade involved, and you'll buy today. Then sell the SS for 17k. You just saved 5k buddy.

Go for it!! I think I'd try to get him to come down another couple grand, but I'd still do it. Tell him the car is dated before you drive it off the lot since the C6 is on the road. Couldn't hurt.;)

Well I did it! I signed the papers last night and pick it up tomorrow. Even though an '04 Z06 is dated it is still quicker, with sharper handling, than is an '05 C6. Plus it will be a long time before I would be able to get a C6 for $8,200 under list with 72 month 0% financing! I pick the car up tomorrow - a Millineum Yellow Z06 with only 28 miles on it and the mirror and memory packages.

Corvette's never become dated, only better like fine wine. :D

Congrats Kevin!!:beer You're in the big leagues now. So, let's talk mods...:D

Wow! That was fast. Did you trade the camaro or will you sell privately?

Congratulations... post pics when you can.

Congratulations on the 04 ZO6! Nice deal! I'd be all over that C6 ZO6! I could not contain myself from trying to peek under the hood. I'd probably get arrested and escorted away by security lol! ;shrug

I ended up trading the Camaro. I did get them to come up an additional $500 on it. I did a bunch of research on what people were actually paying for the cars and that really wasn't too bad of price. The Camaro had 57,000 miles on it and I've driven it through three winters. I saw some SSs being advertised for 18 or 19 k$, but they generally had a lot less miles on them, I also saw some being sold for less than I was getting for trade-in. Plus (and its a big plus), the rear axle was making a bunch of noise on the Camaro (I had determined that it was internal to the rear end and was not the brakes or tires) and there was no way that I could have sold it privately without either paying to have the axle rebuilt or giving the buyer a big discount. Plus this time of year it is tough to sell a rear wheel drive performance car in the midwest - despite me driving three winters with no problem! The dealer I traded it to is wholesaling it to a dealer in Oklahoma. All in all I ended up getting about 60%, of the original price that I paid, back on the trade - I figured that wasn't too bad for what was esentially a 4 year old car, especially with the way the used car market is going. Plus the dealer is pulling my aftermarket springs off and returning them to me so that I can sell them.

I paid $46k for the Z06, which was the GM employee price. I could have taken the $3k rebate to get it lower, but then I wouldn't have had the 0% financing. The 6 year 0% was worth a whole lot more than the rebate, plus it kept my payments down low.

Good deal!
I think the C5 Z06 will be a sought-after classic one day. Especially the last model year that was produced.
I hope that's not just wishful thinking.

way to go
