Warren Michigan- As the C6 Corvette's January '04 debut date gets closer, it's becoming harder and harder for GM to sit on the car's details. Most recently escaping are word of still another exterior redesign (erasing the validity of the last flurry of artists' renderings a year ago); fixed high-discharge headlights; 400 odd base horsepower from an LS-6 based engine... named LS-2; and a reduction in weight of about 300lbs, give or take a full tank of gas. The latter results from a new lightweight, variable thickness hydroformed aluminum frame and the extensive adoption of low-mass materials and assembly methods throughout the car. In addition to the frame, the C6's glass, wiring, suspension, and interior are also considerably lightened. Thanks to the C6's Cadillac XLR platform partner, additional resources - and an additional need to offset the Cadillac's heavy accessories and equipment - have led to the biggest Corvette diet in decades.

Lighter=FASTER!

Did anybody save the pics before they removed them. I just got back and didn't see them.

Thanks,

Chuck

I did. Stay tuned.

Virtually all the spy shots are here:

Much appreciated that someone pulled those so that the rest of us could view and make our assumptions on what lies beneath the camo, this is the type of assistance that diferentiates CAC from some of the other boards.

Well, I like to think so. :D

Give me a little bit of time because I'm working on a C6 specific section of the site, but I've got a couple other priorities in the Knowledgebase that I need to attend to first. Hang tight.

Sometimes you just have to ask....

Is that an XM antenna on the read deck lid? Looks like it could be.

I sent XM this e-mail question:

Will XM radio be available on the 2005 Corvette C6?

Their response:

Thank you for contacting XM Satellite Radio.

We apologize for the delay in our response.

Unfortunately Corvette C6 2005 would not have XM radio install as far as we are concern at this moment. However you may purchase one of our portable units that can be use at home and in your vehicle. For any further inquiries you may contact us at our Listener Care Center toll free number....

This is Antenna Specialists XM20 Constellation Rooftop Mount Antenna, lowest profile antenna available for an XM Radio. Measuring a mere 14 mm in height, its shape and profile are very aerodynamic.

It does Look kind of like the one in the spy photo but I agree that we are likely seeing sometype of two-way radio antenna mount. Don't think GM would have radio features installed in the C6 yet.

I saw a speedway white Z06 that had two black stripes running lengthwise down the hood and trunk at carlisle. The owner said he had xmradio and he had the little black box just like in the photo on his trunk lid. He said it was the antenna. XMradio could be sworn to secrecy also since they are a vendor of gm.

My C6 comment -- EEWWWWWWW.

If this is really what the C6 front looks like - I say it's the "revenge of
the lemon-suckers". It looks like it ate something it didn't like.
I hope it's all a disguise to fake out Ford spies.

Thanks for the pics. Now we will have to wait and see if this is the real C6 or will GM make more changes.
