Trying to run down problems with a 90 convertible. First problem is the dic has either been replaced or did not come with one. Just a hard piece of plastic with the corvette emblem above the climate control center. Was this an option in 90. Second, car is bogging down, missing under partial throttle, hot or cold. Had a code h32 pop up, found vacuum hose off the egr solenoid and put it back on. Code is gone, but runs worse now. Also, the climate control system will malfunction intermittently, shows No temp on startup, just three dashes, and blower comes on at full power. Have to keep turning the key on and off until the temp appears in the window, then it functions normal. Am leaning toward egr problems except for the climate control issue, which kinda points toward the ecm or a ground issue. First vette and will appreciate any help.:w

The DIC was standard equipment. Pictures below shows what the front and back look like. If you have the ENG/MET button press it and the speedometer should change from MPH to KPH. If none of the lights behind the panel light, verify the CLSTR 5 amp fuse is not blown. The fuse is located in the fuse box at the passenger side end of the dash.

Appears Bubba knew something was wrong with the EGR system. Below is a picture of the EGR solenoid.
You should be able to blow through the vacuum in to vacuum out ports with the ignition Off.

If you apply 12 volts to the EGR solenoid it energizes and the valves close and you should not be able to blow from the vacuum in port to the vacuum out port. Could be the solenoid is bad or the EGR valve itself is plugged with carbon and is not closing.

The ----- indicates the HVAC control head is not communicating with the HVAC Programmer which is the brains of the Climate Control System. It's mounted on the firewall above the gas pedal to the right side of it.

Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Reseat the electrical connector at the Programmer and the electrical connector on the back of the HVAC control head (box with the buttons and LCD panel). Also reseat the AC fuse and the CTSY fuse in the fuse panel.

Reconnect the negative battery terminal. When you turn the ignition On the HVAC system does a recalibration of the blend door which takes about 20 seconds. When done the blower motor comes on You can press the fan Off button to turn the fan off.

The buttons on the left of the dic are all there and function as they shoul What is missing is the screen that shows the chdck engine light and other warnings. I think it has been replaced with a piece of plastic with the corvette emblem. Never get any warning lights on it.

Sorry no lights on the screen even at startup

The plastic after market cover plate you have still allows the factory silk screened panel to be seen.

Did you verify if the CLSTR fuse is good? :confused

If the fuse is good remove the DIC panel assembly and reseat the connector on the back of it.

Below is a picture of the cover plate you have which is probably taped over the original factory plate.

If you shine a flash light in front of the panel you can probably see the silk screened icons.

There is nothing behind that panel except light bulbs. There is no electronic circuitry.

Finally pulled the plastic screen off the dic. It was do dark that the warning lights could not be seen underneath it. (This may have been done to pass a safety inspection, as now I have an infl rest light and the ltwps lights on) oh well will tackle those later. Still do not get the ses light to come on even when the key is first turned on, so I am guessing a bulb problem. Still no codes, egr system tested normal, but still running like crap. Since changing the fuel pump, filter and strainer seems a simp, e task, and not sure if they havecever been done, am going to tackle that tomorrow. Didnt notice the fuel pump kicking on this weekend when the problem started getting worse. Didnt think I was going to make it home for a while. Will post results tomorrow.

Dropped fuel pump, screen and filter in today, solved 98per cent of the engine problems for less than 100 bucks. Took about 2 hrs due to dropping one bolt and looking 20 minutes for it. Still have a miss, suspect a plug or wire is bad, but will now break the tires loose at least. Will investigate further. Thanks all.

Also having problems with DIC 1990 C-4

DIC is illuminated but Information not displayed. We have tried the recommendations to "thedoctor". checking all 5 amp fuses.....can you provide more advise?
