I attempted to start my car (1987 coupe, auto tranny) last evening and it began to turn over and then just died (It has a new battery). I now have nio lights what so ever, as if a fuse blew. I have checked all my fuses on the passenger side dash and all are ok. Is there a major fuse elswhere on the car that may have blown also?

The car also had a possible oil dipstick leak (which was going to be repaired this week) resulting in oil on the starter, Could it be related. Anyhow it's off to the shop for some major repairs.

Do you have power to any electrical device in the car?

Best regards,
Gerry

I had no power at all. I took it to the shop today and it turns out that one of the battery cables is kaput, so they will repalce it and go from there withouth needing to replace a starter or alternator. They will also take a look at the oil leak. Hopefully it just a matter of a worn dipstick tube and anot a rear main seal.

That's what I was thinking. It always pays to try the simplest thing first then move on to the more complicated solutions. Good luck, you saved yourself a bundle.

Best regards,
Gerry
