Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

Not the right year...?

1st on the car. I saw a car a few years ago with a 75 VIN, 75 engine/engine bay, but an 82 CE body and interior. There are some weird things out there

2nd Ebay is cheap international advertisement. Plus you get a pretty good idea what someone will pay for your car. I looked at local car recently that I found on ebay. It was a beautiful fully documented 65 coupe. It sold for $40,100. Somebody got a great car. There are good cars on ebay but I would never buy without seeing the car first.

as far as the car goes, parts being harder to get, someone probably wrecked the front end ,found the newer doner car, and swapped out the rear bumper and whatever else they needed, and voila??

on the ebay thing, if you order anything from the u.s. into canada be prepared to pay out any savings for brokerage fees, taxes and whatever. i bought 1 item for 29 bucks by the time i had it home it cost over 119.$ cdn. i could have bought it here for 55 cdn.
on the other hand ,most people here will not pay good money for a car, so ebay will give it far wider exposure. too bad there are so many con men there it's hard to manouver through their droppings.

I'm hearing a lot of you slamming ebay, but it isn't all that bad. I live in a small town about 20 miles from a city of 35,000 where our 'local' paper comes from. I have advertised vehicles in the paper and nobody will come here to look at it. I saw my Corvrtte advertised on the Internet, and I drove out of state to look at it. I also saw someone mentioned 'salvage' in bold font. Is it better to buy a car and strip it for parts and profit than to keep it on the road as best as one can?

Great post craig32... and, most of use would fail any NCRS rules. I bet 90% (at least) have 'personalized' their Vettes in one way or another.

So... I would have no issue with someone even taking 3 'salvaged' cars and making one good one. It still looks great and would make the owner happy.
