Does anyone know if it is okay to change the oil with the front end jacked or on ramps? Will all the oil drain out or does the car have to be on a level surface?

94 LT1

Thanks.

Excellent, thanks for the help!

Nice Vette by the way.

Paul, I don't think it matters. But I will tell you that I'm too dang old to crawl under these cars any more and will be buying a lift to do my maintenance work. :w

Too dang old!? Heck, I'm 48. <grin>

Anyway, buying a lift? What kind of a lift? One that will lift the entire car? Like at a shop? If so, how much will that set you back?

Tom, WELL worth the money, in fact I'm gonna bookmark that page and add it to my wish list. It sure would make working on it a whole lot easier.

I use plastic for my oil changes, Amex, Visa or Mastercard.

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHA

I did today also. But I have only had it for a month now and I want to "zero time" the car. That's aviation lingo. Anyway, when they changed the oil I discovered the last owner or whoever used regular oil, not Mobil 1. Will that hurt the engine? It has 87,000 original miles on it.

I'm kind of a perfectionist...so no one else would do it right (in my eyes) , besides I'm also a cheapskate, I'll do it myself. (Cheapskate who will spend $10 dollars to save $1....go figure :D)

Dino oil?????? Yes it probably is on it's last leg about now........;LOL JK.

The reason Mobile 1 was used (as I understand), was that it dissipates heat better regular oil. But remember, these cars run warmer than normal cars anyway, they were engineered that way. Personally I doubt it was hurt, however I would use a synthetic oil in it. I also only use AC/Delco filters, I figure if they were good enough from the factory, they are good enough for me.

Good advice, I now have Mobil 1 in it and have reset the oil monitor per the FSM. Yeah, we do have the same car. Cool. I have a blue moon roof but it needs to be replaced, it's more crazed than I am.

Race Ramps - I do all my oil changes and I now use the 63" race ramps. No problem.

Thank you sir. Race ramps may have to be in my future as they cost a lot.

Paul, my 94 came with a Blue roof too (my 94 had the dual roof option) but the blue one was MIA when I got the car. I have considered buying one, but then again I probably wouldn't use it that often, and I have other "needs" that I want ahead of that so I will not be getting one anytime soon.

I know what you mean by needs. I added all my "needs" for my car and it totals over $4000!

I can get a brand new blue moon roof from Corvette Country here in Georgia for $800. Ben has been in business for 32 years. He has been on the cover of many Vette magazines and he's even in a lot of books. He must have several dozen trophies. He showed me his junk yard of wrecked and out of commission Vettes and it blew me away. He has a hundred at least. His son is building for him a 1978 pace car from the ground up with a brand new modified hand made chassis and his paint work is incredible. You have to see this place to believe it. Ben and his guys are outstanding in what they do.
