oil filler cap

I am having a hard time getting oil filler cap off.
Any one know why?

Is it factory or aftermarket? Mine are for a 1973 vette and i have Edelbrock valve covers and it is just a rubber grommet attached to the neck of the cap that pulls out. If it screws then possibly the flange has separated from the cap. Worse case scenario is to pull the valve cover to look under and remove it from there. Hope this helps. Chas

yes it is after market but it is a 383 stroker engine using a mobil oil cap.
