Oil Gel

I just received a letter from Toyota concerning my wife's Camry. I states that the warrentee is extended for 8 years with unlimited mileage for any engine problems relating to oil gel.

This is good but "What is oil gel " ?????

Im thinking warranty from Head Gasket leaks..

When Coolant hits the oil it turns into a lard looking substance (I guess Gel like)

Huh-uh. A very small number of Toyota/Lexus 2.0 I4's and 3.0l V6's have been toasted because of a circulation problem that causes oil to pool too long in a hot part of the engine and begin to sludge (gel is their word). Apparently 3k mile oil changes take care of it, but since most cars now recommend 7500 miles between changes for normal-duty engines...

Essentially, if your engine seizes because parts of it aren't being lubricated properly and they find that the oil has "gelled" then you get a new engine.

Huh thats a problem Ive only ever heard happening when the oil sender/pump go faulty...We all know what that leads to (Ka-boom)

By any chance would a synthetic oil do the same?

I've experienced oil gel before in an engine that lost it's head gasket. For reasons that I won't go into, the car sat for a bit of time. I thought it a good idea to clean out the oil pan and ewwww...... I got slimed. It's perhaps one of the nasiest fluid concoctions that a car can produce. Reminded me of when my dog got sick.

also could be intake manny gasket...happened to me.
