Oil leak or paranoia

Had my wife take the car out for a drive while there was a break in the weather. I got home from work and backed it out of the garage to wipe it down and noticed a very small stain on the garage floor that was already dry. I looked under the car in the driveway and noticed a very small stain of oil about 1/4 the size of a dime. Put it back in the garage with a piece of newspaper under it and haven't seen anything. (It was on the driver's side to the right of where the battery is located)

Am I just being paranoid? I seem to worry more about the car than I do myself!!

Some of us will always be paranoid with these cars and it does have it's benefits, keep an eye on it.

Took it out today and no oil leak but................now it's dripping transmission fluid (I think - it's red coming from the middle of the front)...it's a slowwww drip. I'll have to take it to my mechanic after the snowstorm tomorrow............. at least I can vent on the forum................Lucky

Hopefully not more than a leaky gasket. Checking it out now is the right way to go.

Same here, as far as oil leaks!!!!!!
Can't find where they are at.....but nothing to bad....What do you think????

hey folks,
I have been caught in our parking lot at work smelling around the hood and around the tires searching for an oil odor I know was there but found nothing. Man I get tired of chasing these ghost leaks. One leak I did find was at my drain plug. I have a gasket on it, I even put high-temp teflon tape at the base of the threads - a suggestion of a CAC member. But nothing seems to stop. Is there a trick to it? Should the plug be tightened to an obnoxious torque or something? Thanks for your help.

No. I never really blamed the wife, she thought I was going to though.....I had the oil leak fixed. It was the base plug (8.80 and a gasket (1.50). My mechanic replaced the parts when he did an oil change and only charged me $40.00 total. He also fixed the transmission leak. It was a $6.00 seal about the size of a dime.
