I have oil leaking from trans/diff area of 2003 C5 convert. with less than 20k miles. Any inputs?

Just talked to my mechanic about the same thing. It's a Corvette built-in problem he says, and he has done several warranty repairs. When the seal between the transmission and the dif begins leaking the only solution is a replacement, which he says requires "taking apart half the car." One seal that he replaced failed again in 16K miles. The 4L60E transmission is prone to failure when the fluid gets low. Just more of the "Corvette tax."

Thanks TenneC4....since the '03 automatic C5 trans/diff leakage just started in last few days/miles, car was taken to dealer this am by flatbed wrecker to protect transmission. Based on your note, I take it that problem is on the auto trans---not the manual trans(?)...is this a valid assumption...I have a '02 C5 with manual also w/o leaks at 23000 mi. Will let you know what happens...and thanks again for your rapid response yesterday.
Regards, Jim

Thanks TenneC4 and DRTH VTR for your inputs....just picked up the '03 C5 from dealer....prob was a leaking trans oil pan seal which was tightened (re-torqued c'scrws).
I'll be watching it carefully for a while....doesn't seem like a problem one should have with less than 11,000 miles....does it?

I've had to re-torque the oil pan and the trans pan on the C4 fairly frequently. A stripped headlight gear doesn't seem like a problem one should have with 16,000 miles...does it? Thank goodness the C5 is still in warranty: the headlight assembly was $347 plus one hour shop time. That eliminated any doubt I may have had about the need for an extended GMPP warranty.
