Just a bunch of parts....
Since I have two different places that I can mount my oil pressure sending unit. Where is the ideal location? Next to the oil filter, or at the rear of the intake manifold? ;shrug

I put mine near the oil filter. I thought that the engine compartment looked cleaner with it hidden there. I'm not sure, but if you have certain headers, there may be a clearance problem if it is mounted near the oil filter, but my stock manifold works great. (I just had to buy a threaded adapter to get it to fit in that hole, cuz that hole is bigger than the one by the distributor.)

I think the stock location is near the distributor though.

Dont you have an oil pressure sending unit already mounted in the block in the factory location ???

not me...errr I HAD one. I did an engine swap, and during the process, I cracked the sending unit. With the new engine, the guy had his unit on the side (but he kept it and put a plug there).

So, for awhile I had no oil press. gauge functioning. I finally put one back in the car and had decided to put it at the bottom.

I think the preferred location, is, as close to the oil pump as possible.

Sounds logical enough for me, and I am not particular about what is 'stock' or what is not. I'm all about custom.

The engine I took out of my 76 had the sending unit mounted at the rear of the intake manifold, but I've also seen one with the sending unit next to the oil filter. I'm running the Hooker side pipe headers, so I don't think that I'll have clearance issues if I mount it by the oil filter. I've dumped considerable $$$ on lots of chrome and polished goodies, and would like to keep my engine compartment as clean looking as possible.

I'm leaning towards installing it by the oil filter.
