Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

Only the 96 has it!

The only C4 with Dexcool was '96.
OBD II was the biggest difference with many more system monitors. Both these can be argued as improvement or not.

For what I paid and what I got I don't lament the missing stick and the 50 HP LT-4. Mine has the 50 extra horses now and I have a machine that handles the transmission gears for me. Shifting is optional. Flame suit deployed.

Dexcool??????????

What is Dexcool? I never heard of it before.

How did you increase your hp by 50 ponies and know it! Did you Dyno it?

The only thing that l was going to do if l decided to stay with my 96 was change the rear.

Alan

p.s. Dexcool is a form of anti freeze l just remembered.

l just edited this

For us here in places that test for emissions, OBDII is a good thing. Here, if your car is pre 96, they run it on the rollers and test the tail pipe emissions. None of the sensors could be malfunctioning but if you run too rich, you fail. The car could be running fine but not within "their" specs and you fail.

If it's a 96 or later, they just plug it into the OBDII port and check for codes. If you don't throw codes, you pass.

That's good to know.

Thanks Edmond

throttle body airfoil????

Are you talking about the wing like device you mount on the carb?

Please explain it to me, thanks

Alan

Sorry Kingman I was just playing with you. The air-foil fits on the throttle body and is advertised as a performance modification. There is no evidence of that. Your car is fuel injected. The air comes in the front of that long silver thing on top (plenum) and each cylinder gets it own injector. A veritable horsepower symphony:L.

I have matched the throttle body to the plenum and changed the exhaust to Corsa. Also standard by-pass surgery. A friend played with some ECM settings (the brain) and got me some there. SLP intake lets it breath better. The ECM edits take these modifications into consideration. 50 horses is by the buttometer and probably not that much in reality.

It won't be transformed to LT-4 performance without head work, hot cam, roller rockers and long tube headers. And oh yeah the 3.45 rear end. It would be far better to just get an LT-4 to start with if you like winding out the gears. For my needs the A4 and pretty standard LT-1 is fine. The Lt-4 is by far the defining difference in the '96 and really is an awesome engine. But fret not, ours is just a few steps behind. It's red. Its a vette. The rest is just details.

Love to hear that!

If you beieve all of the items in the catalogs that tell you about the increase in HP, we would be blowing almost 700hp to the rear wheels for $29.95 plus shipping.

Your right the choice should have been the LT4, but for the present l will be happy with what l have.

Alan

If my memory serves me 1994 was the first year for the "Express Down" feature. I know my 94 has it!

94???????????

I thought the 96 was the first year but l seem to be wrong!

Are you sure you have a 94?

Only kidding.

alan

94 was the first year for express down on drivers side. Check the 'Black Book', not handy for me now, but it tell you all the other goodies you folks have been wondering about. I like slow power windows myself, seems like you can never stop it where you want.

What black book??

Is this a top secret book?

Alan

Corvette Black Book by Michael Antonick. It's great for some quick facts.

Any more HP or torque then the 92?

With all of the upgrades did the Hp or torque ever change?

Alan

I know LT1's stayed at 300hp but I'm not sure about the torque.

Funny... the Black Book says 94 was the first year, but the "Cor-Vette Specs" book first mentions it for 96. Just lists "power windows standard" for the other years.

And I found Hib's name mentioned on no less than 4 pages!

We need Sherlock Holmes!!!!!!!!

The only reason besides owning a 96 is that we all want to know what we have period.

When l first saw the 84 in Cailf (white 0ne) l thought it was awesome
Come west, young man. :D She lives again.

Our 745Li has express up and down, on all windows, as it also obstructions (so un-Kevorkian). The key-in-lock window and sunroof closer on my '91 850 and the '89 735iL was/is very, very handy. The older car also does it with the remote, plus I can open all the windows and roof with the outside lock. Nice on hot days with this black car. The 850 would auto-close the front windows above 80mph. Now, THAT was a surprise.
