At least the safety features of the 'Vette proteched the guy and his wife and it looks like the car stuck to the road a lot better than did the Mistang. From yesterdays Kansas City Star:

KC police suspect street racing led to I-435 wreck

Kansas City police today wrote two tickets to two drivers who allegedly raced on Interstate 435 Tuesday, causing a three-car wreck that vaulted two cars over median cable barriers.
Police cited Rayford E. Reed, 27, of Gardner, and James E. Garrett, 39, a Kansas City Fire battalion chief, for careless driving and street racing.
Witnesses told police they saw an orange Chevrolet Corvette and silver Ford Mustang racing in the southbound lanes near 63rd Street about 11:20 a.m. Tuesday. The Mustang driver lost control, left the road and struck a concrete barrier then slid back onto the interstate and collided with a Volkswagen Jetta.
The Mustang and Jetta then got tangled up with the Corvette. The Mustang overturned in the grassy median. After the Corvette and Jetta vaulted over the median cable barriers, the Jetta overturned.
The Jetta driver was the only person injured.
Police reports say Reed was driving the Mustang and Garrett was driving the Corvette. Garrett’s wife was a passenger.
Garrett’s mother, grandmother and two other relatives were killed in a highway wreck June 1, 2006, when a tractor-trailer slammed into the rear of his mother’s vehicle on Interstate 70 about 30 miles east of Columbia. The women were headed to a family member’s wedding anniversary.

A Kansas City battalion Fire CHIEF???? :mad
Probably not for long. He should have known better, especially in the middle of the day since that is when the cops seem to patrol more around here.

Hmm... let me see...If the Mustang left the road, hit a concrete barrier then slid back onto the interstate and hit a Jetta and then the Mustang and Jetta hit the Corvette, the Mustang must have been smoking the 'Vette. Otherwise wouldn't the Corvette been long gone?

So, this fire chief was not only incredibly stupid for racing to begin with- but he was obviously a bad driver!:boogie

He probably wont be fired, but, He probably wont be chief, or even station captain after the publicity.
lets hope He keeps the Vette
